I watched them back to back with someone who hadn't seen either, and she was stunned when they just killed off the entire family (save the little girl) even though they'd spent an entire movie trying to rescue the parents and reunite them. She was like, "Are you fucking serious?!" Just like TFA and TLJ. Rian basically took all the things Abrams set up and tossed them in the garbage. Exactly. There's honestly no compelling reason that I can think of to see IX. This seems to sort of wrap up Star Wars for a lot of fans, if these overwhelmingly negative user reviews hold true.

I'll be seeing it on Monday. Hopefully I feel the same. Definately not looking forward to seeing the glorious squid man get turned to sushi though

meh is my answer, not excited for Star Wars anymore Perfect representation of my feelings. I don’t hate the movie, it’s just like... I have finally come to the realization that the series isn’t for me anymore. The MCU is good, but everything has been turned into that and I’m just done with it personally. I dont even view this as Star Wars, i view it as Disney fan fiction personally.

Like TFA, TLJ isn't the sort of film that gets better when you think about it, lol. Enjoy it while you can. ;B Oh don't worry about me. We were in the same place after TFA, and I got 2 years of enjoying TFA and looking forward to TLJ, and I'll get 2 years of the same for TLJ and ep IX. What did you get? ;B P.S.: to talk like Yoda, you still have not learned. Avatar change, do you must!

As for Gial's untimely end, it's fan service but they should have given Laura Dern's role to Ackbar including the suicide jump but sans the plot hole silliness like telling nobody about the escape plan (causing pointless side missions and even mutiny).

THIS! That idea should've been a no-brainer if you're going to have Ackbar get killed! But this just shows how Disney, Kennedy, and her 2 sycophants (Abrams and Johnson) don't care about the integrity of the characters or honoring the history of the lore. They handed that shine to a one-time female character who had absolutely no roots in the franchise. As someone else on this thread said, the sequel trilogy is just a Disney fanfic parody of the OT. They should've rebooted the episodic films along with the EU. But they knew that they would lose some of the existing fanbase. So they brought in Abrams to sucker everyone. Meanwhile the guy who really understands homage to the lore while updating the franchise is doing the animated series.

Yes it's great. The idiotic complaining that is going on now has happened with every Star Wars movie except for A New Hope. I'm old enough to remember the same type of whining about The Empire Strikes back when it first came out. And the same people have never stopped whining about Return of the Jedi.
All the Star Wars movies are great popcorn adventure films with great special effects, fun characters, and some creative universe building. This movie is the same and just as good as the others.

Did you Like " STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI".....YES or NO ? My answer skews yes, i liked it, theres a lot about it that was good. But i have to admit i am on the fence about a lot of it too. It wont go down as one of my favorites of the series, but it wont be my least liked either. It gets a lot of props for at least being complex and doing things that were unexpected. It just didnt deliver what we were waiting so long for.

Even better, they should have gotten rid of that character altogether and given her lines and actions to Leia! Gial was a extraneous character. Given that Carrie Fisher has passed away how awesome would it have been to have Leia go out like that, fighting and going down with the ship!? That would have been a great send off for Leia. Instead they gave it to c-list character we're never going to see again or cared about in the first place.

I'm actually both surprised and grateful that we finally have a Disney Star Wars film that isn't beloved by the bulk of the fanbase. That gives me a little hope for improvement down the road. Heh. If I ever change my avatar, I'll get the new gummy Yoda. Dude looks baked. You want me to sound more like him? Okay. Here goes... YODA: Listen, boy. Someday, when you are older... you could get hit by a boulder. While you're lying there screaming, "Come help me, please!" The seagulls... hmm... poke your knees.
