Is it just me or does anyone else feel this current cast is a bit too young for the Dark Phoenix saga? Not only because they are physically young (although that's also a factor) but mostly because the characters themselves haven't developed enough emotional ties between them as a team and the Dark Phoenix storyline was one that was exceptionally heavy due to it destroying those emotional ties.
I don't know, I guess I feel like they just jumped the gun with this movie.

Yeah they are going an almost teeny-bopper route with the cast. I wish they had set this when they were older.
Fox is (was) pumping these films out just to make money. If they cared at all about anything other than Wolverine-Magneto: Stryker movies there would have been an arc leading to Age of Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. As it is everything feels rushed.

They can't even be bothered giving them makeup to better match the age of the characters. McAvoy and Fassbender are supposed to be in their 60s during this movie.

Both of you bitches can shut the fuck up now and stop pretending you care about how Dark Phoenix is going to play out.

Those emotional ties are not going to get destroyed in this movie, the ending to DOFP made sure of that. Interviews on the movie say the drama is Jean dealing with a “secret” Xavier told her. That will be the focus of this movie.

Well, she can act as long as she's being victimized. It's only when she has to do anything proactive that it gets weird.

That will be the focus of this movie. This is what I was thinking. The original X-men would have been in their early to mid 20s by that time. I still see them as being the younger team to the Avengers. I don't see them as being over 30 even now.

It should be noted that the ascending age order of the Dave Cockrum group at the time of DP was Peter (always referred to as the youngest; when he met the 18-year-old Sam for the first time, he commented that the kid was about his age when he joined the group), Kurt (he turned 21 in X-MEN ANNUAL 4, which chronologically was the first post-DP story), Ororo (Scott and Jean's peer)...and Logan.

Standing up to Magneto and winning the day while the boys were incapacitated? (X-MEN 63)
Yeah, I know. That was an exception in the Silver Age era.
