Beach Boys leader and genius Brian Wilson in his prime. Paul Dano plays the young Brian in LOVE & MERCY An older Brian Wilson John Cusack plays the older Brian in LOVE & MERCY I just finally saw LOVE & MERCY tonight. To even the casual Beach Boys fan I highly recommend it. It details Brian's genius and his battle with, and recovery from, mental problems. Both actors are great but Dano's performance is uncanny and spot on.

Once again, thanks for a wonderful idea for a thread, BAT.
For any sort of reference work, the internet normally beats books hands down, but this would seem even better in book form, with the portraits on facing pages. Has any such ever been published? If not, be the first, BAT!

Al, We are OBSESSED with THE CROWN. It's our favorite show. "Tommy" Lascelles is my favorite character. Pip Torrens is brilliant.

Agreed jervistetch , and John Lithgow played the best impersonation of Churchill that I've ever seen. The sad bit is that I can remember most of the actual events depicted in the show as they happened.

Not sad. You're a witness to history. Yes. Lithgow''s performance is astounding. The episode where the artist is painting his portrait is unforgettable.

These are some excellent pics here spiderwort all my favorite singers / musicians and actors here too . Thanks so much for sharing these here also . You're very welcome, mszanadu. Glad you liked it. When I finished and looked at it, I was just dying to hear the singing. (Actually, I just listened to a bit of a Patsy Cline song). But that's for another thread. One I don't actually know how to configure. Patsy Cline was both lovely and so talented I never tire of her most memorable songs too . spiderwort I certainly welcome a thread of this most memorable lady as well .

Dustin Hoffman's character in Wag the Dog was based, at last in appearances, on renowned producer Robert Evans. So was Michael Douglas's character Uncle Wayne in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

Now here is a guy who has been portrayed on screen as many times as Billy the Kid and on film: Napoleon (1927) dir: Abel Gance played by Albert Dieudonné (a hard act to follow) Désirée (1954) dir: Henry Koster played by Marlon Brando (funny, Napoleon looks just like Marlon Brando here) Napoleon (1955) dir: Sacha Guitry Young Bonaparte played by: Daniel Gélin War and Peace (1956) dir: King Vidor played by Herbert Lom (my favorite, maybe because it was the first I saw, when young) War and Peace (1966) dir: Sergey Bondarchuk played by Vladislav Strzhelchik Waterloo (1970) dir: Sergey Bondarchuk played by Rod Steiger Interesting how similar Bondarchuk's two Napoleons (above) are in appearance. Love and Death (1975) dir: Woody Allen played by James Tolkan Pan Tadeusz (1999) dir: Andrzej Wajda played by Henryk Baranowski Napoléon (2002) dir: Yves Simoneau played by Christian Clavier I watched this 6 hour (TV 4-part mini-series) last night, which reminded me to make this post. Clavier conveyed Napoleon's ability to charm people but not, I think, his ability to intimidate. Partly because Gérard Depardieu (as Fouche) and John Malkovich (as Talleyrand) stole all the scenes they shared with him. There must be dozens more screen portrayals. Feel free to add them.
