The Buffy series is owned by Fox and is part of the deal with Disney. Maybe Disney will reboot the franchise or at least put the old shows someplace where we can easily watch them.

This probably isn't quite what you meant, mmexis, but it does make Buffy look pretty 'Disney Princess-y'.

@chalice, did you draw these? They're great! I shudder to think. Can you imagine the barbie version?? And what would they do with the vamps? And sex? They're going for a younger audience after all.

Sadly, no, I did not draw these very nice pictures of Buffy in animated form. I just stumbled across them. I do draw, though. I draw portraits of actors/actresses from shows/movies that I watch. Not that I wish to see one, but if they attempt a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot...I think they should at least try for something a bit 'different' to the TV series and not attempt to replicate her set of friends. I'm sure I've read previously that at least part of the reason why Faith turned out the way she did was because she didn't have the support group/friends that Buffy did...and it would be interesting to see how the character of Buffy would be without Xander, Willow or Giles, and instead just had her Watcher...and that was it. The movie version sort of had this, as her friends (and boyfriend) kind of eventually ditched her, didn't they? So all she really had in the end was Merrick (who didn't last) and Pike, her new b/f. I wasn't expecting a reboot to be 'Disneyfied', though. I thought, back when I first heard of a possible reboot, that if anything, they were going to try to go 'darker' with it (which automatically made me imagine Buffy as a brunette for some reason).

@chalice I think they touched on that in the episode "The Wish". A much more dour Buffy to be sure.

Disney Channel used to show "My Babysitter's a Vampire" which could, of course trace it's lineage as a show back to Buffy.

Disney owning Buffy does not mean she is now a Disney Princess.
Instead, it means all Disney Princesses are now Slayers.

Maybe they'll do a Buffy-Vampirina crossover.

Maybe a slayer spin-off with the occasional guest appearance.

I have mixed feelings about it. I don't like that Disney owns a lot now, but maybe they could do some cool stuff with it...but anything they do would be in the interest of making money. I have not liked what they have done with Star Wars (I will not get into that here), but I have liked what they have done with some of Marvel...so I don't know; it could go either way. Like the OP said, maybe we will at least get it aired on TV/have a better place to watch it. I am not in favor of a reboot though.

I'm still hoping for Disney to buy The Transformers. Disney is a merchandising machine. There'd be all kinds of new toys.
