Apparently they didn't even think he was spry enough to make one decent duel scene. He had a five second (non-saber...ugh!) duel with Rey and then he made Patches O'houlihan proud with his diving and dipping on Crait. Terrible pay-off for the three-decades wait. And you're right: Poe is the coolest one left. How lame. hey, are you SCELESTUS elsewhere? You're spreading the Last Jedi hate it around aint ya? lol No, I am not. This is the only site I comment on. I just went back over to imdb to write my review and started flipping through fan reviews on that site. Holy smokes! I haven't seen that many pissed off fans since "The Malice at the Palace" in 2005! Nope, it's not me. It's just that there a lot of fans who are really angry like me.

Luke trying to kill his nephew in his sleep was what killed this movie for me.
I mean, seriously WTF?! His father was a mass murdering dictator and he was willing to die to bring him back to the light... But his nephew, who is still his student and hadn't actually done anything wrong yet!? He decides to murder him while he sleeps.

It's like it was deliberately written to ruin an iconic character.

Damn, now I want to view the content of this fine word-tuning doppleganger!!! It was probably nothing. I've since seen a lot of posts by others doing the same. It is interesting though.
But ultimately did you really HATE the movie ALTOGETHER? Or are there redeeming qualities that you still had fun with?

I give it credit for all the typical SW things: costume, set design, effects, cinematography. To me, though, I couldn't really care less about most of those things. They're icing on the cake. The cake itself is the story. I thought this story was beyond bad. I thought it was damaging to the future. And I had very high hopes for the future. Now I am no longer interested in Ep. IX and that's really disheartening to someone who logged 1,000 hours ingesting SW material over the last two years. I am not exaggerating when I say I hate it with a passion. I am still physically angry days later. I know that sounds just absolutely ridiculous, believe me. But that's how I feel. I've never felt that way about a song, a book or a movie in my 40 years on this planet. What can I say? I hate it worse than burnt Anakin hated Obi Wan.

I hope so for your sake. As for me, I'm out until something changes at Disney.

Sorry, but this was far worse than the PT. I actually like the PT now. Originally, I lost my heavy lust for SW after the PT, but then TFA brought me back and it brought me back bigger than ever. I went back and watched the PT and realized it was way better than I gave it credit for. But this garbage we just got makes all the complaints about dialogue and bad lead acting in the PT seem like nitpicking.

I think TLJ was a very well made movie that didn't give us what we wanted as fans, whereas the PT gave us what we wanted as fans (at least in ROTS) but failed at being well made movies. Different strokes.

Different strokes. No, there's a truth in what you just said. I am on more severe ends of it though. I think TLJ was not as well-made as you do and I think the PT was more well-made than you do, but I agree with your premise. The PT was a story for fans and a little convoluted for the casual cinema-goer. TLJ was expressly made for the cinema-goer, following an all-too familiar formula in Hollywood these days.
