In watching a recent game, they showed the hand of a center on the ball showing that he wasn't wearing a glove and his knuckles had white tape covering each one on every finger. So why do football players tape their knuckles? Do only certain players do it or every player? And would a player still do it if he wears gloves or only non-gloved players?

Probably to lesson the risk of tendon pulley injuries.

Why do players that didn't do anything at all on the play talk trash? The ball is overthrown out of bounds by ten yards and the DB signals incomplete and gets in the receiver's face. You didn't do anything, boss.
Special teams players who are down by three TDs talk shit to a guy who calls for a fair catch. What are they saying? "Yeah, I'm a scrub playing special teams. We're down three scores and I've done nothing to affect the outcome of the game one way or the other. Why'd you call for a fair catch instead of letting me unload my bitterness on you while you aren't looking?"

I would assume there was an original intent for something like that, maybe to prevent scraping or cuts or something, but my guess is it's just for the look nowadays.
I remember a couple of years ago some college player was asked why he wore eye black and he had no idea. They asked if it was to prevent sun glare on his face and he had no clue that that was the actual purpose.

I'm pretty sure there must be a more legit reason since a trainer is the one who probably puts it on. The eye black they can do themselves.

Never mind special teams, I've seen a dude celebrating because he made a big stop when his team was down by 28 in the 3rd or 4th.

Or how about when a guy makes a big hit on a player and celebrates even though the play results in a first down? Also, what the hell does this have to do with the original topic?
