It's a fascinating story with what's going on with Disney/ESPN/Fox right now.
Disney - which owns ESPN - just bought parts of Fox.
FS1 and 'FOX' which handles the NFL, MLB and next years World Cup to my memory (could be off) - right now are not part of the deal - apparently it's local affiliates owned by Fox.
Find this intriguing as a lot of ESPN talent went over to FS1 - wonder if they have eyes in the backs of their heads - as you always should anyway when it comes to business and former employers.

It doesn't seem that the deal will change though. The plan was always for Fox to sell off it's movie studio and network and maintain Fox Sports and Fox News. What I don't understand, and what I haven't seen explained, is what that will mean for sports on the Fox network, and how, or if, that will be separated out from the network itself. It's an odd and confusing situation, and it's seems like Disney is trying to create an entertainment monopoly, but it also seems like there is no stopping it at this point. But I don't think that ESPN and Fox sports are going to be merged in any way.

"...and it seems like Disney is trying to create an entertainment monopoly..."
I find it fascinating Disney is now overseeing parts of Fox and ESPN now - granted FS1 isn't a part of the deal 'now' - but FS1 and ESPN are incredibly similar channels right now.
I wonder if a deal will be struck in the future (i.e. if the product is in trouble) - and maybe we will be saying 'shared' on air talent.

I don't see that happening, but I'd have to admit it's possible since I never saw 20th (or I guess 21st) Century Fox and its subsidiary studios every selling to make another hyper-mega-super conglomerate.
I don't watch either ESPN or FS-1, but I've paid enough attention to know that people like super-douche Skip Bayless and others took big money deals to go Fox and which tells you that Fox sports is trying to essentially copy what was working for ESPN exactly. Also, ESPN has been becoming less and less profitable as time has gone on, and we know that has meant a ton of layoffs for both crew and on air personalities. I'm not sure if Fox is thriving enough to justify their spending, but if things keep trending this way then I guess you could ultimately see it making sense for Disney to go after that piece of the company as well.
But I doubt Murdoch will every want to lose control of Fox News. It seems too lucrative and just too easy. Their shows look like cable access or a like a parody of a cable news show, so you know they don't anything to make outside of paying the hosts, and they have a monopoly on a share of the market that will never look anywhere else. And I doubt that Disney would keep their ideology the same if they ever did get a hold of it. So it makes sense that that part has remained separate from this deal. It also allows those at Fox to attack Hollywood more freely without having to answer to being part of the same company at the same time.
The whole thing has a lot of crazy considerations and implications that will be fascinating to watch play out, even if some if it is disturbing and disconcerting.
But yeah... Dan LeBatard is a tool.
