Has anyone seen any of Stefano Sollima's movies and if so are they good? With the cast back as well as Taylor Sheridan as the writer, my only worry lies in the director. It'll be hard to live up to what Dennis Villeneuve brought to the first one.

I'm actually really happy with the trailer and I'm sure the movie will be great. I just realized Roger Deakins isn't back for the sequel which is a damn shame.

It'll be hard to live up to what Dennis Villeneuve brought to the first one. I haven't seen his movies, but the only movie that got a fair number of reviews is Suburra (his 2nd movie) with a 92% on rotten tomatoes and a 7.2/10 average. As I said, I haven't seen that movie but it seems he's a relatively new (even though he's already in his 50s) and talented director within the movie buisness. He also apparently created a tv show recently called Gomorrah which has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 76/100 on Metacritic.

I absolutely loved Sicario, but I thought it was a complete film; it did not require a sequel. Also, in my humble opinion, the strongest points of the movie were the cinematography (Deakins), direction (Villeneuve) and Benicio's genial performance. Soldado has a different cinematographer and director, while still having Benicio in it. I'm still going to see it, but I'm not exactly thrilled about it.

I'm alittle disappointed that Emily Blunt couldn't reprise her role since I enjoyed her naivete clashing with Del Toro's ruthlessness.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Pity that Emily Blunt won't be in it though.

Blunt was good in Sicario, but she's hardly a deal breaker. Agreed. Having Del Toro and Brolin going full blitzkrieg on the Cartels sounds like a great direction to go.
