So, instead of poo pooing the movie anymore, I thought I’d take a crack at changing a thing or two myself. Let me know what you think…
Scene 1/ day/ Island of Ach-To
Rey meets Luke for the first time... Luke takes the lightsaber from Rey.
Luke I never thought I’d see this again. How did you get it?
Rey Maz Kanata had it.
Luke (Smiles)
That old pirate. (Staring at Rey…) You were with him… when he died. I sensed it… in the force. Rey (Crying)
Han is dead. I’m sorry… Luke There was nothing you could have done. He had to walk his own path. Han… my good friend. If anyone’s to blame it’s me. (then to Rey) Who are you?
Rey My name’s Rey. I need your help. We need your help.
Luke Help… the resistance? I don’t know if I can. But you? You’re strong in the force. I can feel that. (He hands the lightsaber back to her) This isn’t mine anymore. You keep it.
Walk with me… They walk away together…
(Then… later I would have had him explain how he feels he messed up because of what happened with Kylo, and how he feels he can’t help anyone because he might just make things worse. But he’ll train her like Obi Wan and Yoda trained him, because he doesn’t want her to be lost. The island of Ach-To IS the first Jedi Temple so both Rey and Luke learn new things together and develop new abilities. Its almost as if he’s getting new training too. Over the course of the training Luke comes to love Rey like a father does his daughter, so when she leaves to try to help Kylo, he chases after her and ends up on Crait to defend her and the Resistance. He meets Leia IN PERSON. The AT-ATs shoot him IN PERSON, he survives but you can see he’s weakened from the attack. He fights Kylo IN PERSON, kicks some ass, but loses since he’s weakened. He’s badly wounded. Before everyone leaves in the Millenium Falcon he dies and fades away in the presence of Leia and Rey. ) If they’d have just done this I would’ve been happy. Thoughts?

You know... I'm beginning to get the feeling that you don't like that whole astral projection thing with Luke. Just a hunch.

You missed:-
"But how did you find me?"
"The map you left with Lor San Tekka."
"Oh yes of course, I'd forgotten about that - that was before I decided I'd actually come here to die..."

You'll go back to your grave holding on to that one Count. It was always the map to the First Jedi Temple. It was called the "Map to Skywalker" because that's where everyone who was looking for him believed him to be. R2's map and the Empire's archive had that piece missing because it had been removed by someone at a much earlier time. The shitty part is that they probably will never tell the story of who took it or how San Tekka came to obtain it at this rate. It's in JJ's court now, put up or well, just don't address it and make millions anyway...

I'll still say this though - the map was just a map. Without the actual planet being the sign-posted on it (which isn't the map in itself) it's worthless. Like a treasure map - without the "x marks the spot" ,which someone has to add to it, it's just a worthless map...

My guess is that the issue of the map will never be addressed ever again, nor will Lor San Tekka, nor any of the things that weren't answered in TLJ. Ep 9 will just move on...
The only thing they REALLY have to address is Carrie Fishers absence. If they don't do that, if they just dismiss it, then I REALLY will be pissed. They have to at least mention something to explain it.
I'd be fine if they open the movie with a Leia funeral. That would be satisfactory since there's little else they can do now. Rian Johnson took the cowards way out by passing the buck instead of dealing with it himself in TLJ.
