I see no story of all prosperity leading to decadence here though. I see a story of people who are prospering from evil, trying to hide their evil in things they see as beautiful. I don't see the message necessary to the plot though, unless for some reason it comes back up and is shown to be. Neither does anyone else, which just makes its inclusion that much more out of place. It was a weak attempt to cram social commentary into a scene that was already unnecessary. Unless the commentary was the point of the scene, which makes the whole thing even more awkward... Absolutely! I just think the awkward misplaced commentary is about these evil people have prospered from their evil, not that all prosperous people are evil. And if they make it somehow germane to the story later (I doubt it but if they do) there's a huge difference there.

Thanks for the post. Yeah, pretty much everything having to do with the minority characters sucked. Some have suggested that Rose should've been the code breaker, allowing them to skip Canto Bight altogether. Finn used to be a stormtrooper, so maybe going back behind enemy lines would've allowed him to find out where his long lost family was (e.g. Rose hacks into a top security database) or be challenged to do something about his fellow enslaved stormtroopers. Something compelling.
