...then how do you explain there was no thread this time called, "Do Atheists Celebrate Christmas?" The concept of exchanging gifts on December 25th pre-dates Jesus by a long shot. Christians took a day of celebration and tried to make us all think that it was a Christian idea. For the longest time, celebrating the winter solstice has been a tradition. When Julius Caesar set up the calendar in 46 BC, the winter solstice occurred on December 25th. Because Julius Caesar mistakenly assumed a year to be 365.25 days, (In reality, it is 265.24219), the winter solstice drifted back a few days. After Julius Caesar, everyone celebrated on December 25th rather than on the day upon which the solstice fell.
