What a godawful sad news story.
At the end they should have shown some baby squirrels who ended up starving to death because of this.

maya55555 Thanks for the acorns. I don't have pictures to share BUT: I have a derelict camper on the property that is parked near the pine windbreak. Come spring, I go into the camper to get something or other. ALL of the drawers and the cupboards are FILLED with pine cones and pine cone pieces. Exiting the camper through a small hole in the side is one of these little guys. (American Red Squirrel) The camper is now OFFICIALLY his and his family's.

VegasI was just going to post about the woodpecker mentioned at the start . Possibly more likely to have been stored by woodpeckers. I wonder where Bear Creek is and if they have these guys : ACORN WOODPECKER - big on storage :
