At Chelsea Market in NYC, there is a great taco place that usually has various adventurous ones. They've had rattlesnake, octopus (my fave) and various game animals ones before, but last time I went they had cactus tacos that were friggin excellent.
As for the grasshopper encrusted shrimp, I'd try that in a heartbeat. Everyone needs to get on board with insects, and insect-related products being introduced into their diet. Insects are incredibly cheap to farm and distribute, it's an environmentally friendly process (at least compared to meat mass production), they're packed with nutrients and are crazy low in calories and fat, it's only a matter of time before that stuff finds its way in to our daily lives. People can be disgusted all they want, it's happening (and frankly, it's no more "disgusting" then some of the other stuff we eat).

With work, I happen to be near Chelsea Market once a month or so, making it easy to stop by. You certainly wouldn't need to go out of your way to eat there, but if you haven't been, it's worth a lap through.

I wouldn't make a special city trip for it, but if I'm in the city already I'll try to hit that up

Hopefully you get lucky when you're there.

But then again if they don't, there's also the sushi place inside that market

Grasshopper dust? Yuck! My son used to pull the legs off grasshoppers and eat them just to gross out his sisters, well it would gross me out too.
