Been wanting to re-watch it for the Borgnine devil makeup.
When they were testing out masks for Halloween 1978, they used the William Shatner mask and said it reminded them of his eyes in the Devil's Rain.

Still haven't seen it yet, but I remember Ernest Borgnine talking about it on one of those 70's talk shows when I was a kid. Maybe it was the Mike Douglas Show, or Merv Griffin.

It did one thing well. It used the naturally evil appearance of Borgnine to great effect, which hadn't been done too much since From Here to Eternity. Well, except maybe for Emperor of the North. I even get creeps from seeing Borgnine in "good guy" roles.

I used to watch this on AMC back in the day. They used to play some cool, old-school horror movies late at night, and despite the mediocre rating, I was always very into this movie. I guess it was just that I hadn't seen any satanic cult movies back then, but this movie has a lot going for it.
Yeah, that cast is amazing. Ernest Borgnine as the cult leader? Shatner and Skerritt fighting him? Travolta without eyes?
I liked the mood of this one a lot. And of course, let's not forget that long, drawn-out melting finale! Man, I can't wait to rewatch this...
