screenrant.com/jodie-foster-...oing/#commentsJodie Foster Says Superhero Blockbusters Are ‘Ruining’ Moviegoing “Going to the movies has become like a theme park. Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking – you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.”
“It’s ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world. I don’t want to make $200 million movies about superheroes.”
Did I not tell you the list will grow before the year ends. she is right.

Is she promoting a new film?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with crowd-pleasing entertainment.
Maybe she heard of Homer or Virgil? Or Shakespeare? They made crowd pleasing entertainment.
The problem is a) too many superhero films and nothing else and b) badly made superhero films.
We certainly do not need more films like Flight Plan. Talk about an implausible plot.

I mean she's entitled to her opinion, but I'm not going to stop watching the new Marvel or DC film.

She's just saying that because Superhero movies are much more widespread now. If Westerns were still being made in large numbers she'd say that about Westerns.
Hell, this woman was in Elysium. That was like a comic book.

Nothing she says holds any water.
Going to the movies has become like a theme park.
Is it supposed to be like a funeral?
Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders
So she assumes that the "masses" only like bad content. Could she be more elitist? Also, movie making is a business and studios can't make any movies without shareholders and paying customers. I'm sure Ms. Foster is quite good at negotiating for the best salary possible before she makes a movie.
is like fracking – you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.”
Fracking doesn't wreck the Earth and movies with mass appeal do not wreck the movie industry.
It’s ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world.
People are fully able to decide for themselves what movies they want to see and they vote with their pocketbooks. There are countless non-superhero/blockbusters made every year and people that want to see them can and do. When people stop wanting to see superhero movies, then studios will stop making them. There are countless home entertainment options that people would take advantage of if they didn't want to see what's in the theater. The customers viewing habits drive what movies are made, not the other way around. If Ms. Foster had a modicum of understanding of economics she would know this.
I don’t want to make $200 million movies about superheroes.”
No ones making her. There are plenty of great actors (Robert Redford for example) that are willing to make movies that millions of people want to see.

Middle-aged, white, rich, homosexual woman declares superhero movies to be worthless. A nation mourns. News at 11.
Ms. Foster is likely upset because opportunities for her, in front of and behind the camera, are drying up. Outside of Elysium, which she was terrible in, I can’t recall anything of note she’s done recently.
I wonder if she’d feel the same way about a 200 million dollar dramatic period peice in which she was the star?

Looking at the IMDB list of her films, I've seen 7.
That includes the Addams Family cartoon in the 70s.
She has her opinion. I disagree.

If she gets the starring role in the inevitable dramatization of the 2016 election, perhaps not.

A Black Mirror episode she directed dropped on December 29th. Her last acting gig was Elysium. Only maybe a handful of people liked that, so it must have soured her. That was 4.5 years ago.
