- The space battle was good - Luke and Leia together. It's the only scene where Luke is portrayed correctly - Leia slapping Poe and telling him he's demoted. It made me smile because I know that had to be Carrie's idea. Also, it's a far cry from what her daddy would do to subordinates... - Appearance of Leia's classic hologram (even though it was forced for authentic Luke would never need convincing to save his friends)- Rey and Kylo together turned out to be the only strong storyline of the episode I forgot that one. I'd liked that too, although, I also agree with you that it shouldn't have been needed.

Was there any scenes you like? I personally loved the sunset scene where Luke dies peacefully That scene is ruined by the fact that Luke dies... and that he dies of exertion no less. wtf
I liked lots of stuff in the movie. LOTS! Its just that almost everything I liked in it is then undone by something else. For example: Luke surviving that barrage of laser fire is awesome! Until we find out he survived because he wasn't there! And still somehow he dies from it! WTF! He didn't DIE, DIE hr became one with the force and more powerful than ever (at least it's what obi-wan and luke say to theit opponents LIARS they are just ghosts that do jack shit

Sure, but listen, I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here. I went through the entire movie and tried to think of any scene that didn't contain some component that ruined said scene. If this had been a decent SW movie, it would be a little easier. In fact, it's precisely because the Porgs have no purpose in the story that I was able to enjoy the scene, because any scene that had any real impact sucked. True. Rian really messed up (in my opinion). It's unfortunate because I know he can do good work. It's like he didn't even watch Episode 7 and only read a synopsis of it before shooting 8. Rey's parents? Doesn't matter. Ancient Jedi texts that we've seen Jedi fight for years to preserve and continue for 8 movies? Doesn't matter. Who is Snoke and why is he so badly damaged? Doesn't matter. Where the hell are the Knights of Ren and what are they doing? Doesn't matter. Why didn't Han get an honorable funeral like Qui-Gon Jinn? He wasn't a Jedi but he did a lot for the Republic/Resistance. Doesn't matter. It was paramount they have that movie time to show Finn/Rose riding CGI animals on a race track...Why did Luke even leave a map to his location if he didn't want to be found, wanted the Jedi to end, and was waiting to die himself? Doesn't matter. Why does Hux have such a chip on his shoulder about the Resistance? His hatred for them in Episode 7 seemed to come from something from his past. Doesn't matter. There's just minimal (I'm being generous here) character development in the movie at the most. Bad characters do bad things because they're bad, heroes fall to despair/isolation, and uninteresting characters take center stage (minus Rey/Kylo who were the only compelling storyline in the movie). I'm glad Rian at least was able to make the Star Wars movie he wanted to make. As a long time Star Wars fan though, I just cringe when I think of this movie. Not to be dramatic but when friends/family/co-workers ask me how I liked the movie, it's almost like they're asking how I'm doing since the death of a loved one.

My wife cringes anytime one of our friends brings up the movie, because she knows I'm about to go on an angry diatribe that culminates with depression. The friends just blink and say, "....we just...wanted to know...if you enjoyed it or not...sorry..."

Hmm... which reminds me... ;B Man, i was so excited when i heard that the guys from the Raid would be in TFA. And then i saw the movie and they were only in that stupid scene... LOL, I stupidly assumed Rey was gonna kick some ass with her staff during this scene. Instead, she only used it once against some nobody thugs.

I've thought of one more aspect of the movie I liked:
While he acted way goofier than he ever did in Episode 5 (he intentionally acted that way back then to test Luke), I liked that Yoda was a puppet in Episode 8.

Honestly, not many scenes that I didn't despise. The only ones I can think of: - Snoke flattens Hux - Chewbacca almost eats a Porg (the one bit of comedy that actually worked in the movie) - Luke steps into the Falcon - Luke reunites with R2 As I've said before, this movie nailed it when it came to costuming (Leia looked great after looking terrible in TFA), cinematography (the blood red salt getting kicked up on Crait was brilliant) and color (Kylo's Tie Interceptor attack scene was more vibrant/beautiful than space battles in previous films). I thought Snoke's throne room looked great. But even the good things I've just listed were mostly ruined by terrible writing/dialogue/character development within those scenes. I didn't even really like Luke/Leia's reunion scene and even though I liked the idea of Luke seeing twin suns when he died, I was so off put by the fact that he was dying from Force Stroke that it was ruined for me. Finally watched it...agree with Luke on the Falcon, and with R2...also I did like the Luke Leia scene for the first few seconds, something about their tone, and subtlety. I did enjoy the visual of Luke with a sabre, facing Kylo, and the visual of the twin suns, but as you say, it was an unnecessary and uninspired nonsensical death. Every decent scene is truly ruined by what comes immediately following. Most of it is ridiculous garbage though. Snoke's death...ugh. Episode IX is what, the spark of a new rebellion? Is the movie going to be timelapsed, or are we going to need another trilogy to overthrow the First Order?

Is the movie going to be timelapsed, or are we going to need another trilogy to overthrow the First Order? We both know where Episode IX is going. Yes, there will be some uninteresting side plots with Finn and Poe, but the main plot will be the Reylo Fifty Shade of Grey Jedi bit because that's the only story left to tell. And yes, she'll start a variation of a Jedi Order. <lifts butt cheek, farts>
