First Man
IMDb synopsis: A look at the life of the astronaut, Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
Is anyone else really excited for this movie? I sure am. It is directed by Damien Chazelle, who probably has one of the best first 2 feature length movies of any director with Whiplash and La La Land (not counting 'Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench'). And if that wasn't enough it stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong and also has actors like Claire Foy & Jon Bernthal. I don't know how much biographical life drama & how much actual space travel this will be, but space travel has always been one of my favorite topics so I can't wait. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year this will be near the top of many people's 'Best of the Year' lists. Justin Hurwitz does the music, which he also did for Whiplash and La La Land. Linus Sandgren does cinematography (known from La La Land & American Hustle). And I know it's a small detail, but Francine Maisler is the casting director and she's probably one of the best current casting directors. She also worked on Blade Runner 2049, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Baby Driver, Arrival, The Revenant, Creed, Ex Machina, 12 Years a Slave and that's just the last 5 years.
