Next Quiz is almost ready -- it's all about Dialogue from Best Picture nominated films.
Only problem -- IMDb just eliminated the Quotes search function.
first it was Characters, now this.
Have they lost their minds over there? ______________________________________________________________________
So -- need some player input. Should the QM proceed anyway, and we take our chances?
Or should I relegate the contest to the scrap heap.
One way to salvage it might be to use performer initials and decade of film. But fearing that may still not be enough.
The quotes still exist within the page of the films themselves, but getting to them is the problem.
Comments welcomed. _______________________________________________________________________

I am horrible at Quotes, but I don't think that should stop the quiz. It always presented a problem for me because I have a problem cut and pasting on my iPad, which can really be a slow-down.
I saw this coming when I lost the Characters in IMDb several weeks before others did because I use the mobile ap. To renovate one, they would have to do the others. I hope it isn't long before it is all back.
I would say boycott Amazon, but I would starve to death.

Matt,
Keep your prepared quiz as is. I don't think I am giving away any personal clues when I tell you I NEVER used the IMDb for your quotes games. I always copy them and paste them on Google Like so: movie quote "Yes. Bedspreads and underwear."
Who said that and in which movie? Name the movie title character and the never nominated actress
I always put the words "movie quote" in front of anything I am searching for, Google usually takes me to right the IMDb reference.
Try it.
p.s. If you put the words movie quote first, you don't have to actually put the quote within quotation marks when searching on Google.

I don't encourage it, Bat. But there is no way that I can enforce a 'no searching' rule.

Let the Game begin. Like Julie and Kijii, I never used the IMDb quote search. You can't blame Jeff Bezos for cost cutting. He only has 100 billion dollars.

The People have spoken.
Damn the IMDb torpedoes, full speed ahead.
Aiming for a Sunday quiz.
Advent is over, so hopefully Julie can join us.

mattgarthSpeaking of changes to the Olde IMDb ... I can no longer find the "So and So was in a movie with what's-is-name" button. Any idea where they've hidden it or do you suppose it also was nuked in their crazed rush to "improve" their site ? Would be very handy in the "relatives who appeared together" discussion as well as in those little quizzes that pop up occasionally.

That button where you could find themfilm where two people were in together has be gone for over two years on the IPad version of IMDb. I didn't know that it had still been available for some.
That does explain how some had been able to beat me to some answers I thought were obscure.
May level out the playing field a bit.

It can be a real (First World) nightmare when playing a Garth Game. When you're on an actor's page, go to "Quick Links" which is usually near the top on the right side of the page. Click on "Explore More". This will expand the list. Down the list you'll see "Related Items" and under that heading you'll see "Credited With". That's the feature you're looking for. It looks different than it used to look but it performs the same function.

I'm pretty sure that feature is still there on a regular computer, too. I think if you follow the same steps I gave Linda you'll find it.

I use an iPad to play but I don’t use the IMDB app. I log in on the internet as though it were a computer. For this to work well you have to have fast internet service .

jervistetchThanks for the How To. I knew it had to be there somewhere, hidden, disguised, lost among the "improvements". While you are here... do you happen to know the trick to copying an image directly from the IMDb pages ? I know it can be done but have lost the paper where I wrote down the route.

Jervis - I never would have found it. I am very visually impaired. I have to use a magnifying glass to read my iPad, but then there still some problems in reading certain colors, fonts, numbers and I can't type and see at the same time. I don't always catch my errors, for which I apologize.
To add to my frustration is the WiFi in my nursing home has been flakey all the time, much worse with the rain the last couple of days.
