Anyone else see it yet? I was able to catch it the other day and really liked it. Very intense & gritty from the get go. Bale & Pike are both aces in their roles and I think its Scott Cooper's strongest direction yet . Highly recommend this one!
8.5/10

No but glad to hear it. Is it just me or did everyone seem to turn on Cooper after 'Out of the Furnace'? I thought 'Black Mass' was excellent but it didn't rack up the awards I thought it would.

Oh I loved Out of the Furnace. But yeah, a lot of his critics get on him for his screenplays & direction . People can say what they want about Cooper but damn does he get everything out of his actors & actresses . And I also agree with you regarding Black Mass . Depp's best role in years ! (questionable makeup aside of course haha) Scott Cooper is 4/4 with me. I have liked all of his films so far and imo Hostiles is his best one yet

I'm excited for this one. Anytime a western actually releases nowadays I have to at the very least rent it later on.
I'm glad you liked it, though. I'll probably check this out in theaters.

Hasn't come to my town yet, but seeing the trailer a few times, I've got a feeling what Rosamund Pike's character will do when an old tells her what she won't do with a shotgun.
I see that the release is designed for Oscar contention- I'm afraid it's too little, too late.

Very good movie overall, solid performances, engaging from beginning to end, but never really steps a step into greatness. 7/10
Also, not gonna penalize it for that, but it's more moral relativism American nonsense trying to make themselves feel better.

I loved it, could there have been a slightly different take on the movie? Yeah but it was sublime to me.

Highly recommend this one! 8.5/10 I thought it a good film, and the acting was great, by Pike and Bale. I feel Bale should get an Oscar for his performance.

Just finished it last night. I think I still liked BLACK MASS (2015) better but it's a solid western with Bale's best performance in years. I felt like Wes Studi and his family could have had more scenes of dialogue. Ben Foster was great as always. Quick question, did they film in natural light like The Revenant?
