If you had enough money to live comfortably on forever like i'm sure he did, would you really have sold it? Or would you have sold it to another company that wanted to buy it even if it was for less money? Seriously what would You do in that situation? I'd not done it.

I am still waiting to see what "DISNEY" does with "INDIANA JONES" which George Lucas also sold to them with "STAR WARS".

Let's face it, that's all that's stopping them. I'm a diehard Indiana Jones fan but I see the future. And it's Indiana Jones...not starring Harrison Ford.

Well if they decided to continue the " INDIANA JONES" Franchise after Harrison Ford then I personally would love to see Chris Pratt take over (as a New Character though).

Hell, I'd rather if they left it alone as far as live action movies go (at least give us an animated series). Then as you said, use a different actor for an entirely new franchise. The Mummy movies weren't fazed by comparisons to Indiana Jones. They just went for it.

And his kids didnt want it. Ultimately a wise decision because it helps him in reputation. Since Disney destroyed the series not him.
But if he had maintained control and did the sequels, although it probably would have been somewhat more imaginative, I suspect Luke's character arc would not be that different. Lucas was going to go the SJW route anyway. Guaranteed since the entire Hollywood machine is committed to it.
The story synopsis that Gary Kurtz claimed he saw in the early 80s was quite different-with Luke winning and winning (with a Trump haircut) until he defeats the Emperor in episode 9. Was it ever a serious idea or just something they floated out there.
I dont believe the story meeting transcript that came to light a few years ago which claimed Lucas came up with the Indiana Jones underage sex idea.
Probably more propaganda--especially since so many ideas were taken from Secret of the Incas. Yeah Spielberg and Lucas created Indiana Jones but they copy and pasted the character with slight changes from that 1950s Paramount movie which just so happens to have had no dvd release.
"The film is often cited by film buffs as a direct inspiration for the Indiana Jones franchise of films, with many of the scenes in Secret of the Incas bearing a striking resemblance in tone and structure to scenes in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Throughout Secret of the Incas, the main character, Harry Steele, can be seen wearing the "Indiana Jones" outfit: brown leather jacket, fedora, tan pants, an over-the-shoulder bag, and revolver. The character also sometimes wears a light beard, unusual for films of its time, and there is a tomb scene involving a revelatory shaft of light similar to the "Map Room" sequence in Raiders.
Raiders' costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis noted that the inspiration for Indiana's costume was Charlton Heston's Harry Steele in Secret of the Incas: "We did watch this film together as a crew several times, and I always thought it strange that the filmmakers did not credit it later as the inspiration for the series" and quipped that the film is "almost a shot for shot Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Why would anyone pay to not have control of the thing they want to buy. That's just a distribution deal they overpaid for. If Cameron sold the Avatar rights, he would not have a say in the sequels.
