Not if it's succeeding wildly in every other way. And it was so popular among fans too. Ok it wasn't. It failed in that way too. Even Hamill wasn't happy until WS reminded him how much he loved it.

Empire Strikes Back wasn't popular with the fans back in the day either, now look at it. It was popular with fans. It was critics who didnt care for it. Reverse situation with TLJ. Critics loved it.

It wasn't popular with either, then after ROTJ and time passed it became better viewed. I lived through those times. TESB was liked very much by fans (except the cliffhanger). ROTJ not so much but it still pushed the envelope and got a pass for its flaws.

EMPIRE STRIKES BACK always was my favorite, although the 2nd of a trilogy always seems to be my favorite- TWO TOWERS and DESOLATION OF SMAUG were my favorite among the LOTR/HOBBIT trilogies as well. But second pieces tend to have one way of looking at them when you've only seen the 1st and 2nd movies, then a slightly different way of looking at it when you've finally seen the 3rd movie and then go back and rewatch the 2nd one. But I dunno about how other people felt over EMPIRE, back in the day, since I wasn't really into social media back then and I lived in the middle of nowhere with only my family and a 90-some year old neighbor, to talk to and the neighbor wasn't much on SciFi movies. He preferred war drama and old pirate movies (I shared the love of old pirate movies with him, so we did talk a lot about those).

Leia should have been killed off
Finn should have been killed off
Rose should have been killed off

May sound slightly off-topic &/or stupid, but why do people hate Rose so much? I mean she wasn't my favorite character of the new WARS movies (that honour is being fought over by Maz & Poe), however I found her to be interesting, so I don't get the venom aimed at her, online?
