As many had speculated, the first episode of the second half of the season finds the Discovery in the mirror universe. Not a bad episode, all things considered. I loved Captain Killy!
And what the hell is going on with Tyler? It looks like he is a modified Klingon after all, but how the hell could he have fooled the scanners?

How can they change his lifesign from Klingon to Human? But I must say after a slow start Discovery is becoming one of the best things the franchise has ever produced.

It is going to have to improve A LOT for me to consider it one of the best Star Trek series! Some characters are growing on me (the Captain, cadet Tilly and Saru) but I am still not very keen on any of the others (including the main character), and I still haven't accepted those grotesque Orcs Klingons nor the preposterous spore drive propulsion system.

I absolutely adore Michael Durnham as a character. The rest of your complaints are windowdressing. I look at the story they are trying to tell. And that is very very good.

I guessing the ship remains in the MU for the rest of the season, i.e. it's the second arc of the season. I must admit, they got the new Klingon design wrong. I'm liking the theme of naming ships after early Astronauts & Cosmonauts. Poor Doctor Culber. Not sure what the deal with Tyler is, I'm guessing he's been brainwashed to be a Klingon agent inside Starfleet - not so much he's a modified Klingon.

And what the hell is going on with Tyler? It looks like he is a modified Klingon after all, but how the hell could he have fooled the scanners? That's been the most disappointing thing in the show after they got the first couple of episodes out of the way. The line was something along the lines of "oh well since you mentioned it I decided to run some more advanced scans than our original "previously tortured on enemy ship prisoner scans". And guess what? They've shown up you're not entirely human after all!" 😂

Damn, I thought this was next Monday.
Anyway, I loved it. I still say they took way too long to get to this point but we're getting there, finally. Though I'm hoping we don't stay in the universe too long as seeing countless others week to week would be more fun. Not sure where they're going with the Ash/Voq thing but it's keeping me interested and killing the doc was a shock (though I suspect another version of him will show up). And Captain Tilly was hot.
Frakes directing was nice.
Also, I'm really starting to love the theme tune.

On After Trek Aaron Harberts stated they wanted to send them to the Mirror Universe sooner, as early as ep 4. I find that idea puzzling, now I'm assuming the Federation Klingon war was the basis of this show being 10 years before TOS, so in that case surely they'd want to get stuck into the war instead of sending the Discovery off to the MU - hell they probably should've continued with the war for the rest of the season and save the MU for season 2.
