He's a pretty poor film critic.
A lot of the time he reads like a series of spicy, over-the-top, in-your-face quotations that are annoyingly asking to be placed on advertisements for films. Rarely does he offer anything interesting or insightful to say or makes you really ponder about a film or the people involved. He also can be very condescending to the reader or viewer and comes as very biased when it comes to certain topics the film is about or who is involved. He also has no presence in front of the camera and comes off as an 80-something weirdo trying hard to be "hip" with today's crowd.
Rolling Stone should just let the old man go and get somebody younger if they want to stay "hip".

Something recent that is especially bothersome by chance? I'm completely indifferent to most film critics though sometimes they make me chuckle.

I don't always agree with most film critics, but most of them are at least come off as mature and unbiased which I cannot say the same with Travers.
