The New Halloween Has Added A Ton Of New Stars
The hardcore fandom of Halloween must be pretty happy with the upcoming sequel. Not only is Jaimie Lee Curtis returning but Nick Castle, the original Michael Meyers, is also coming back to reprise his iconic masked killer. (He'll be sharing the role with stunt performer James Jude Courtney). Judy Greer and Andi Matichak fill out the rest of the main cast, but any horror movie buff knows that you need some fodder in there for Michael Meyers to pick off. The new Halloween has found its cast of very killable teenagers, which includes Virginia Gardner from Marvel's Runaways.
According to Bloody Disgusting, the new Halloween movie from Blumhouse Productions begins production today and the publication reported the casting of several young and upcoming actors who will appear in the film. No character details or names were given, but these actors will be playing school friends of Andi Matichak's character. First on the list is Virginia Gardner, who people may know best from her most recent role as Carolina Dean on Hulu's Runaways. The young actress already has some horror-thriller experience with the movie Tell Me How I Die and has also appeared in Project Almanac.
Joining Virginia Gardner is Miles Robbins, who has starred in roles on Mozart in the Jungle, My Friend Dahmer, and an upcoming episode of Season 11 of The X-Files. Dylan Arnold has also been cast in an undisclosed role. Arnold recently appeared in the Netflix movie Mudbound, with roles on the TV series S.W.A.T., and the horror movie Ten under his belt. But that's not all. Drew Scheid has also been cast in Halloween. You might know him best as the Drunk Toga Teen from Stranger Things 2. He'll be toga partying for his life soon enough. He also has a role in the upcoming family comedy, The War with Grandpa.
That's a solid looking supporting cast for Halloween. Directed by David Gordon Green with a screenplay he co-wrote with Danny McBride, Halloween ignores all the sequels to the original movie and establishes a new continuity. Laurie Strode (Jaimie Lee Curtis), the lone survivor of Michael Meyers attack four decades ago is still haunted by past events and must prepare for her final confrontation with her would-be killer. The horror movie is R-rated but relies less on gore (like other Halloween sequels) and more on true, authentic scares.
There's certainly plenty of reason to be excited for Halloween, which arrives in theaters on October 19, 2018.
