I think Homecoming was what Spiderman would be if Disney did create the character. Now for the real Spiderman, it will never get better than the the original Spiderman movies.
This is what Spiderman's world is truly like on a daily basis and not the Disney kid friendly comedy feel of Homecoming.
As we know, the people that love Homecoming are some MCU ignorant fans and not really Spiderman fans though I will not say they hate the movie but its a no brainier that most of them favor the original Sam Raimi trilogy. it was the best for many reasons.

Deadpool is the only character that should have humor. Why? You must seriously hate Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who. They have humor in them. Your "dead serious" Punisher show hasn't done as well as the MCU products with levity in them.

As we know, the people that love Homecoming are Unpretentious people unshackled by the past. And Raimi's movies had LOTS of cheesiness to them, don't delude yourself. That mirror scene you posted? Utter camp.

And just so you "MCU has ruined Spider-Man!" guys captainmidnight is by no means an MCU loyalist and never called Homecoming perfect.

I know its like ten minutes but it goes by quick and in no way is the uploader trying to say Homecoming was the best thing ever or that MCU can do no wrong.

You think that because you are a biased moron. Meh, the Raimi moves were good but Homecoming is true to the tone of the more lighthearted comics and will tackle the deeper subjects more as he gets older as he is only in High School. If you read a Spidey comic in your life you would know that it isn't always like that and you're lying if you say the entire Raimi series was like that. That franchise had plenty of humor as well. Homecoming did have moments like the one in your clip. for example the rubble scene and Peter sad because he lost the suit and feels irresponsible. It just reduced the amount of shmaltz. Hey, I liked the first two Raimi movies and Homecoming. Hell, Homecoming was is still my second favorite just behind Spider-Man 2. There, I just broke your absolute filled statement. There are probably many Spider-Man fans that agree with me and you have no right to call people ignorant just for liking a movie.

Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, you Indiana Jones ect. The MCU has had it's fair share of mediocre movies that I will admit weren't that good. The DCEU's MOS,JL,WW and BvS UE were good as well in my opinion, I think half of the FOX Men movies are good as well.

Marvel was never lighthearted , the lighthearted bs tone is Disney not Marvel. This is from Spiderman TAS in the 90s. Nothing light or joke fest here. And this is a cartoon. a cartoon. yet it is heavier in tone than the mcu disney spiderman movie. Spiderman TAS is the most faithful adaption of Spiderman ever put in any media and it had a more serious balanced darker and adult tone compared to Homecoming. um, see the reason I said only MCU fans adore Homecoming? not real long time Spiderman fans of Comic book fans. drop it.

Spider-Man has some pretty dark, depressing, and tragic moments in his long publication history, that is true, but he's generally portrayed and viewed as a lighthearted character who presents hope and optimism, in other words your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. You will never see a Spider-Man movie in the style of Se7en or Silence of the Lambs, most won't go for it and be turned off by how unrecognizable it would be, like how they rejected Fox's attempt to make body-horror scifi with the Fantastic Four in 2015. Just because you read a few storylines from a specific period of time from Marvel that were not tongue-in-cheek doesn't mean that the company as a whole was in the business of only telling visceral and tragic storylines. Every character/team/book came/comes with a different personality, style, and tone. Marvel has always produced serious stories alongside more lighter fare, they've always been this way. When they were dishing out Man-Thing they were dishing out Howard The Duck. When they were dishing out The Punisher, they were dishing out Power Pack. The list goes on and it doesn't end. Now please, just watch the video in the original post.

There was Gwen, Kraven's Last Hunt and that period in the 90s where he went nuts and started acting like a spider. Living in web cocoons. The character being light-hearted is what makes those dark times stand out.

That's one scene from the cartoon the rest of the cartoon was pretty humorous. Um, no I don't see the reason. All you do is prance around saying the same shit over and over again. You only believe what you say and constantly ignore what others tell you if anything you're ignorant. Many real long time fans liked it as it was an introduction he can gets darker with future installments. As I said before he's a generally a light hearted character but has his dark moments. Do you seriously expect a moment like the clip you posted to be done right in the first movie where he's still a kid? Also he has had some tragedy; Uncle Ben is dead and he even mentions what Aunt May is going through. Audiences already know that Uncle Ben is dead so they don't need that again. I will not drop it as you have proven nothing.

No need to waste any more time watching a video made by an MCU fan trying to defend the turd that was SMH.

You are pre-judging a person and the content based on your dislike for the film and Marvel Studios. If you watched the video you would learn that captainmidnight is no MCU loyalist who thinks they can do no wrong and he proves himself a longtime fan and reader of the character. He knows exactly what he's talking about when he brings up specific modifications made in the adaptation that make it echo the original source more than past films, i.e. Spider-Man's suit might be Stark created, but it allows his eyes to emote, a visual nod to the comic book source.

Peter only says that Aunt May has been through a lot. But that doesn't mean Uncle ben is dead or there was any tragedy. That could just mean that Ben parker cheated on May and they got divorced and May had a hard time dealing with that. But what SMH does make clear is that Peter doesn't give a shit about any "great responsibility" and his entire motivation for being a hero is to try to impress Tony Stark, which is a shallow reason to be a hero.

Just because we don't see Uncle Ben or hear about him doesn't mean he didn't exist, didn't die, and there wasn't any tragedy from his passing. For crying out loud dude, it's Spider-Man virtually everybody knows his origin and what happens to his Uncle Ben just like how everybody knows Superman's home world Krypton exploded and he crashed in Kansas. And you totally ignore that Peter rejects Tony's offer to join The Avengers at the end of the film to focus on his community, if that isn't "great responsibility" what is?

The Punisher is not doing hot cause the masses have been brainwashed into thinking comedy is the way to go They were asking why Deadpool should only be the one character out of Marvel's library of characters to have humor in their film(s). Actually one of the largely criticized aspects of the prequels was the portrayal of Anikan Skywalker, it took the Clone Wars cartoon to make him live up to his legend in episodes 4 to 6 (Channel Frederator did a good video on that). Spock's half-part of an alien race that aspires to be logical, not emotional; he mostly leans toward being all-on Vulcan than human, the 2009 film challenged that because his complex relationship with his mother. No, The Punisher didn't do that hot because of the current political climate and, just gonna say it, he's not that easy a character to immediately like when you first meet him.

In this video essay uploader captainmidnight explains how some of the creative choices behind Spider-Man: Homecoming improved upon elements from the past films and made them more true to the spirit of the comic. linkI think he makes some pretty good points, especially in his defense of Peter's high-tech suit. It allowed the filmmakers to actually use his eyes to emote, and the addition of an AI like "Karen" is a clever idea to go about Peter's endless talking to himself. Its an important character trait but out of concern of coming off as too cheesy and weird the past movies avoided this and made him talk less while wearing the suit. With "Karen" he has something/someone to talk to in costume and we the audience get to understand what makes him tick more. Beyond that, it was also smart move to "ground" the story by and not have the stakes be too big ( Not having everything on the line, making the villain's goals more simpler, etc.). They turned Spider-Man into a shallow show-off whose only motivation for being a hero is to try to impress Tony Stark. That completely betrays the comic book character. Your opinion on the film is null and void. You made up your opinion on the film before you actually seen it, as proven when it was found out you lied about when/how you saw the film yet still commented on it's quality.
