That's not accurate, is it?
On a number of occasions, Jesus was able to blend into a crowd because he looked just like everyone else. It wouldn't have been possible for him to do this if he had long hair, because that wasn't the usual hair length and style for men at that time.
I wonder why so many artists portray him with long hair. ![](https://s26.postimg.org/5hoy7902h/confused.gif) For the same reason he’s often depicted with blonde hair, or white skin. Because long hair was a common hairstylist in Europe during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (when most western artists began painting Jesus).

Jesus was a Nazarene. Nazarenes had long hair. I cannot remember anything in the Bible about Jesus blending into a crowd.

Jesus was a Nazarene. Nazarenes had long hair. I cannot remember anything in the Bible about Jesus blending into a crowd. That’s not true. Short hair on Men was common in Jesus’s time among Jews, Greeks, and Romans. And Jesus was not under any Nazarene vow to keep his hair long. So it wouldn’t have applied to him.

Jesus was a Nazarene. Nazarenes had long hair. I cannot remember anything in the Bible about Jesus blending into a crowd. Jesus did not belong to a sect. Him being a Nazarene indicated where he was from and Nazareth followed the same customs as everyone. Now John the Baptist was a Nazarite, which is not the same, but they could wear their hair longer and they were somewhat separate from society as a whole due to the vows they took. In any event, Jesus would have looked like the perfect Jew according to appearance and custom. A blue eyed hippy Jesus would probably stand out.
