Does anyone have it or know anything about it? If so I have a question.

Basically... it's only for people who don't have any other option because it's pretty much a arm and a leg for limited speed and limited data.
if you got Cable or DSL in your area those are clearly better.

Its my only option because of where I live. I upgraded to Gen5 and the speed is fine for my needs. But you are right about the limited data. You have wants called limited allowance. Once you use it up they want more money to get you back up to speed. On another note I like your other avatar better, The one and only........................

I do know somebody that uses it. I also know that somebody doesn't want to use it because it's awful but they have no other choice.
What did you need to know?

SandmanI can't say I disagree my other avatar (my previous one to the current one) was from At Middleton (2013)(7-7.5/10). p.s. I had to give your post a like because it said something good about Vera ; I would get on my hands and knees and kiss her foot.

What did you need to know? What I was wanting to know at the time was if Gen5 was a lot faster than Gen4. Now I know. It is faster but by only a little bit. But like I said for my needs it is fast enough.

Sandmanwhat does speedtest.net say (or some other site that tests your internet line) for your speed? my AT&T DSL is not that fast either but where it makes up for that, since we combined it with DirecTV a while ago, we have unlimited data now where as many seem to have 250GB a month caps (AT&T was 150GB at one point) and I exceed that here and there. so now I don't have jack to worry about as even though I only have 400-420KB/s download speed(which is safe for me to say is slower than most high speed internet lines here in the USA), it's decent enough for me and I would rather have the unlimited data than have say 4+ times faster download but be limited to 250GB a month like it is with Comcast the last I knew.

When I got Gen5 set up they gave me unlimited data for 20 days and it is great. But sadly my 20 days is just about up. The only reason I would not recommend HughesNet to anyone is because of their monthly data allowance. Do you or anyone know if Dish satellite has a limit on data? I can get that where I live also. Trouble is to get the free upgrade to Gen5 I had to sign a two year contract.

SandmanBasically your sort of screwed because when you live outside of the general areas that can get general Cable/DSL and are forced to use Sat for internet it's going to cost a lot for limited stuff. but come to think of it... if you got unlimited data on your cell phone and it has the option to broadcast a WiFi signal, you can connect your computers wirelessly to that. I don't know what kind of speeds you will get but if it's similar and unlimited I would have to assume it's better than Sat internet which is probably way overpriced for what you get. there is a good chance your cell phone has this option and it's free as it simply turns your cell phone into a wireless access point.

Thanks for that information. I have a cell phone but am pretty clueless with it. My son is a computer genius and I will ask him about it when I see him. Tom Hanks VS Vera Farmiga. Not even close. Go with Vera! LOL

I live in a rural area and we used to have HughesNet for the same reason; no other alternatives at the time. We had a time slot in which we had the use of unlimited data. It was between 12:00am and 2:00am PST. It sounds as if they might not provide that anymore?
Our neighbor had a different satellite system by the name of “Wild Blue” if I recall? But my brother asked him about it, and it didn’t sound as if it offered as much as the Hughes system does. There are only a few out there, so there is no competitive pricing.
M-slovak79 might be on to something with regards to using your cell service. Depending on your data usage, it could be a better way to go. I do believe that they sell wifi hotspot devices, so that instead of having to use your phone as a wifi hotspot, you have a dedicated device instead for this purpose. You would have to speak with your cell service carrier to find out more about this option.
I was one of the last in my family to have an “unlimited” AT&T account. Turns out that it was really sort of a disingenuous plan, for if you used beyond a set amount of data (Much like Hughesnet) they penalized you by cutting your speeds back to 2G (EDGE) speeds for a set number of hours.

SandmanYeah, it may be worth looking into if your trying to keep costs down a bit. but then again on the flip side... even if the cell phone thing works decently you might have to test it out a bit to make sure it's reliable like when someone calls the WiFi does not drop out or anything and another negative is that if someone is using your cell phones WiFi broadcast and you happen to leave the house to go to the store with your cell phone, you can see that the persons using your cell phones WiFi will lose internet etc and I would imagine you will get a better price for that, if that stuff is available, than what your paying for sat internet. but then again... if you don't have any other general internet alternatives you might not have much choice. but wanton87 said, "I do believe that they sell wifi hotspot devices, so that instead of having to use your phone as a wifi hotspot, you have a dedicated device instead for this purpose. You would have to speak with your cell service carrier to find out more about this option." ; so that might be worth looking into as while it might suck a bit more $$$ out of your pocket, at least you might have a dedicated internet line instead of worrying about keeping your cell phone in range of your computers etc and if I took a guess it probably gives you the same speed or better-ish for a much cheaper price. but I guess it sorta depends on what you prefer... more speed or are more concerned with unlimited DATA. personally I would be more concerned with the unlimited data than just raw speed as I would rather sacrifice speed for unlimited data than say have a really fast line but capped at say 100GB a month etc. I am sure you get the gist I am forced to agree on her attractiveness alone hell, even in terms of movies... I can honesty say I prefer Vera overall even though I would assume the general public would disagree with me. My favorite Vera Farmiga movies... 1.Source Code (2011) - 9/10 (my #1 movie of 2011 and within my Top 26 movies in general) 2.Up in the Air (2009) - 8-8.5/10 (my #1 movie of 2009 and not much outside of my Top 26 movies) 3.Running Scared (2006) - 8/10 (my #4 movie of 2006 and within my Top 56 movies. also, this contains my favorite scene of Vera's which is the 'pedophile scene' (that's not as bad as it sounds)) 4.At Middleton (2013) - 7-7.5/10 (my #2 movie of 2013 and not much outside of my Top 105 movies) 5.The Departed (2006) - 7/10 (my #9 movie of 2006 and within my Top 186 movies) My favorite Tom Hanks movies... 1.Road to Perdition (2002) - 10/10 (my #1 movie of 2002 and within my Top 9 movies in general) 2.The Green Mile (1999) - 8-8.5/10 (my #2 movie of 1999 and not much outside of my Top 56 movies in general) 3.Forrest Gump (1994) - 7/10 (my #5 movie of 1994 and within my Top 186 movies in general) so while Hanks has Vera beat if I only look at their Top 2 movies, she's got a higher volume I score a 7 or higher and that's enough to tip the scales in her favor overall. NOTE: I generally use the 7/10 or higher standard as anything in that range is amongst My Favorite Movies which currently contains 186 movies. another thing... there are almost no females I am aware of outside of Vera who have at least five movies I score a 7/10 or higher and even comparing to the name actors out there, who generally have the best filmographies, there are not many who have the five movies or more that I score a 7/10 or higher. with that said... it's possible there could be some females who approach Vera's 5+ movies of the 7/10 or higher standard but they are not really actresses I recognize and might be a bit more off the radar in a bit of smaller roles in some name movies etc. NOTE: Hanks used to have more than just those three, but they have since taken a hit.
