There is an agenda in the media to make this happen. And, Fox's attempt to flood the market with genre-bending, Marvel product speaks to the idea that they want this to happen too. They've got two years to show their universe is worth saving in the long run. screenrant.com/mcu-x-men-movie-crossover-explained/

Whatever Marvel does with Fox I hope they keep the X Men in their own separate universe or perhaps just stop making them for half a decade.
But that probably won't happen. I'm just completely burned out on those characters. How many movies have we had since 2000? Like ten or twelve? Let the characters rest.

It'd make sense for them to merge. If not, I'd prefer them to branch out into other genres more often in the future with the XMEN films. They seem to be doing that with Deadpool 2 (comedy); New Mutants (horror); and perhaps Gambit (Heist).

They've got two years to show their universe is worth saving in the long run. They already showed it when Deadpool and perhaps Logan made a bigger profit than Civil War.

No I'd rather them start over from scratch.
