Shout out to any of you who watched the pie eating scene in its entirety without fast-forwarding. My name is NxNWRocks, I'm an A Ghost Story survivor, and I'm here for you.

I haven't seen that one yet, but I see it's on Amazon Prime now! There hasn't been a film out of A24 films that I've seen yet that I didn't at least appreciate the work that went into it. Most of them I've loved. I've really enjoyed the deal with A24 and Amazon, because they are on so few screens and for such short runs in my area.

My name is Fox in the Snow and I can proudly say A Ghost Story is so far my favorite film of 2017.
I enjoyed the meditative pace, minimal plotting and haunting imagery.
I will admit the pie eating scene probably did push the film's ideas a little too far but I think that was the filmmaker’s intention. The scene arrived relatively early in the film and was sort of a “test” for the audience – make it through this and your “with us” for the rest of the film.
It worked: I saw the film at a festival last year and it had by far the most walk-outs. Most of them were during that scene, very few if any after.

Rooney Mara grief eating pie in one long continuous take isn't for everyone, but I'm thankful its for me. My #4 movie of 2017.

I don't mind the scene taking time to illustrate grief, but 4 and a half minutes? And besides, True Blood already did the grief pie-eating thing.
Elsewhere, I think A Ghost Story is a tough movie to watch because it's hard to develop the plot without dialogue.

Just watched it. Very thought provoking and I really liked it, even the pie scene. I think the scene took as long as it would really take. I would hate to see someone who is depressed or suicidal watch this film though!

I didn't watch it but....
Is it better than the opening long-take of Altman's "The Player"?

My #2 movie of 2017. Saw it at the theater before hearing about the pie scene, but was quite mesmerized by it. I just adore the atmosphere of this film.
(My #1 is Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, FWIW.)
