Horrible, almost pointless movie. It's hampered mostly by Hopkins looking and sounding nothing like Hitchcock. He just looks like Hopkins with some thyroid condition. The book was much, much better and more interesting.
2/10.

Well it's not like Hopkins was a dead ringer for Richard Nixon either.

7/10 - It could've been better, but it wasn't that bad. Just average.

It was pretty good, but it could have been better. Despite that, Helen Mirren was fantastic. However, the film gives too much credit to Alma Reveille during the filming of Psycho even depicting her serving as director when Alfred is sick, which is historically inaccurate.

However, the film gives too much credit to Alma Reveille during the filming of Psycho even depicting her serving as director when Alfred is sick, which is historically inaccurate. They also made a point to say he mentioned her in his Oscar speech. IRL, his entire speech was five words long: "Thank you, very much indeed". Watching this movie is like reading the IMDb trivia section for Psycho, only it takes you two hours.
