There is one undeniable exception in DESYAT NEGRITYAT (TEN LITTLE INDIANS) superior to all the previous versions, versions which got worse and worse with every remake, culminating in the worst one with Hugh O'Brien in a role he had to regret if he was sane, until the Russian version put it together nearly perfect. Haven´t watched that yet. Looks good. Talking about Agatha Christie´s work, the Murder on the Orient Express movie that I liked the most (by far) is the 2010 version with David Suchet, Jessica Chastain, Barbara Hershey, Toby Jones. Very well done. Love it.

"True Grit" 2010 blew me away. I'm a Coen fan and was intrigued about how they'd go about this venture. Glad I saw it in the theater...they nailed those iconic panoramic landscape views that were so closely tied to westerns. It seemed a love letter and a tribute to the genre.
"The Fly" 1986 was also a standout. Goldblum at his best.
Glad to see Alexandre Aja's remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" mentioned a few times above. Man, they really took the gloves off on this one. I like the original, but the remake really went in deep. I really liked that there were no huge stars (though there were quite a few veteran actors) featured. They didn't pull any punches and turned out one of the horror highlights of the last ten years in my opinion. Great performances and great practical effects. I revisited this last week and enjoyed it as much as the first time.

The Thing (1982) The Fly (1986) The Departed (2006) Casino Royale (2006)Maniac (2013) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) The 2006 version isn't a remake, but more like another adaptation of the same novel. Maniac 2013 is one of those remakes I can't decide if I like it or hate it. The execution is well done. Having it be like you are the killer was a really nice touch. Everything else though was kinda "meh". The original felt really realistic. It felt like I was actually watching a real serial killer murder people and it was really disturbing to watch and I had a very hard time sitting through it because of how real it felt. The gore in the original also looked very realistic. The remake felt very fake. I did not believe once Elijah was actually crazy. Maybe he was taking a more subtle approach and if he was then that's why it didn't work for me. The remake was nowhere near as gory as it could have been also.
