The superhero fatigue hit me last year. Like really hit me. I'm excited for a handful of these this year but I'm really not kidding when I say I'm done with Marvel after Inifnity Wars Part 2. Same here. If Black Panther came out in February of last year, I would have been excited out of my mind. Right now, I'm still relatively excited, but not even close to as much as I thought I'd be. I didn't like Thor: Ragnarok as much as most people last year, and I think some of that came down to superhero fatigue. I'd be more excited if they start taking things to the next level and stop being formulaic. Like last year we got 'Logan' which I remember vividly but I've forgotten about everything else (especially GOTGV2 which I literally don't remember anything about). I think the reason I'm actually *so* excited for Aquaman is because it has the potential of being something so different and might possibly turn out to be something special. All the other MCU films this year will probably be like all the other MCU films. I think the majority of D.C. films are shit and I think the majority of MCU films are pretty good but as of right now I'm more excited about the future of DC than that of Marvel because Marvel just has me so burnt out.

So many damn comic book movies... I have a feeling that superhero fatigue is going to set in this year and some of these are going to flop big time. This year could be the last hurrah for the comic book movie heyday. Funny thing is that is said almost every year, and the MCU films continue to flourish while it's the DCEU and Fox/Marvel films that have suffered. Almost one superhero movie doesn't perform up to par at the box office as some of the others. In 2017, it was Justice League. In 2016, it was X-Men: Apocalypse. In 2015, it was Fant4stic. Actually, 2016 would be TMNT 2 which bombed.

Honestly, i think the one that's most likely going to bust is Dark Phoenix. I'm willing to give Fox a mulligan on the Dark Phoenix Saga. (Kind of wished we had a Phoenix Saga to begin with but oh well) We are already starting on shaky ground as Apocalypse pointing to the Phoenix as just a aspect of Jean's powers like in X3. I don't like that, but I'm ok with changes if it makes telling a good story easier. I'm less critical of tweaking the source material if it's done to tell a story more efficiently or to tell a story with the best talent you have. (Like the First Class movies lucking out with Jennifer Lawrence before she blew up and then moving Mystique to more of a central roll. Although Ms Lawrence kind of phoned it in in Apocalypse. Hopefully she ups her game in this) All tolled I really want this movie to work. With Fox's track record this could be hit or miss really hoping Dark Phoenix isn't. Deadpool could be half as good as the original and I'll still count it as a win. Uh, that’s not what it implied and even if that was the case it’s comics accurate to Chris Claremont’s original intent. The Phoenix has had several retcons. stay-tuned-true-believers.tumblr.com/post/168359688722/the-phoenix-wasnt-a-cosmic-entity-until-six-years

I agree 100%. I keep waiting for something new out of Marvel, but I think they've found their niche and they're going to stick to it. That's fine, but I personally want something more. Maybe we can get it with DC, but I don't know anymore.
