Can any of the soccer guys here tell me who his and if I should be excited? $15 million transfer fee seems like a lot, right? Not sure what transfer fee is but is that in addition to his contract? Hell Atlanta will probably win the Championship or whatever since no one gives a shit about soccer. That's my luck in sports.

Not even the soccer guys have heard of this kid? Supposedly he's a big deal. Only 18 but was on world cup team or something. The kid spurning all the european soccer teams to come to Atlanta was a game changer according to what I've read. Guess not. Poor Artie. First he built his multi billion dollar Stadium and the roof leaks and Falcons home record was the same as their away. Now he spends a record setting amount of cash on some teenager no ones ever heard of.

Did a 'soccer' player fuck your mum or something? What an odd question and unprovoked vicious attack. I know there are several knowledgeable soccer fans here so I thought one of them might have some info. on the guy. Why are you such a miserable bigoted hate filled sack of shit?

I don't follow MLS but I'm astounded to learn that $15 million is considered "a lot" for a transfer, especially that it's the league record. I don't know who this player is but $15 million is what Atlanta paid his former club to acquire him; it has nothing to do with his salary.

He's a youngster with 'promise'.
Expect he will ply his trade over there for a while, build up his stock, then hoping to get snapped up by an Argentinian or European club at a higher level.

So the transfer fee is like buying his contract but the old contract is now void and Atlanta will have to renegotiate? Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the answer. From the little info I found on this story, US soccer fans hope other MLS owners will follow Arthur Blank's lead and go after young talent for good money as opposed to paying big bucks for former stars in their declining years. Apparently Atlanta already has one other guy in his early prime years so my comment about Atlanta winning a Soccer Championship might be spot on. Yay? I guess.

I don't know if it's the same in MLS but usually when a club buys a player's contract, the existing terms carry over. His salary and contract length should remain the same as with his old club. Atlanta can of course negotiate their own extension and raise.
