And why did you see it? Well, i'll tell you I saw this one that had either al pacino or gene Hackman,or another actor one of them was a baseketball coach or somebody like that I couldn't tell you who from memory. It's from around 1989. Actually it's bothering me I can't remember what the name of it was. Or who was in it.
I have no idea why I saw it I hate sports. Anyway, you?

Creed, I think. Saw it at a test screening months before it came out. Worth noting that the original victor was different, and I actually said on my card that the other fighter should have won. Fast forward to the movie coming out, and they must have listened to me.

While I wouldn't consider racing a sport but in any case, "Heart Like A Wheel". The story of Shirley Muldowney, the very first professional female drag racer.

I don't think I've seen many sports films in a theatre at all. The earliest/first I can just about recallis The One And Only - a wrestling film starring Henry Winkler!!!
I saw Cool Runnings in a field at the Glastonbury Festival. That might be the only other one.
The mjority of sports movies seem to be about American Football, Baseball or Basketball - 3 sports I find utterly dull (though they do make decent sports movies)

Rocky II
I was a little kid and had to go because my parents wanted to see it at the Drive-In.

The Bad News Bears (1976), at a Saturday matinee, because when you grow up five minutes away from a theater in a small town, that's what all the neighborhood kids did back then. It was a chance for our parents to get rid of us for a few hours.

No idea. It's not something I kept a diary of.

Slap Shot. I saw it simply because it was highly acclaimed by critics and moviegoers alike. And they were all correct; it was an insightful hockey movie that happened to be a very funny comedy as well.
Edit: I just realized I saw Bad News Bears In Breaking Training before I saw Slap Shot. So that makes Slap Shot the second sports movie at a theater for me.

The Longest Yard (1974) My older sister did me the COOLEST favor, and took me to see this movie for my 15th birthday.......something considered (somewhat) "scandalous" in my sheltered little world back then, since this was an R-rated movie !!! And YES, while it's technically not a "sports" film, the fact that REAL pro football players (RAY NITSCHKE !!!) were in it, playing 'real' football, is good enough for me !! Yup, those were GOOD days..... SAVE FERRIS

" While I wouldn't consider racing a sport but in any case, "Heart Like A Wheel". The story of Shirley Muldowney, the very first professional female drag racer." Starring the incandescent Bonnie Bedelia, possibly one of the most beautiful actresses of her day.....and STILL a major BABE, IMO !! SAVE FERRIS

Breaking Away (1979). I saw it because Siskel & Ebert both recommended it highly, and I agreed with them.
