These aren't the official estimates that Disney/Marvel are expecting. These are just estimates by third parties looking for something to write about. I'm surely when Marvel does come up with predictions it will a lot more conservative than these two.
Box Office: 'Black Panther' Tracking For A Record-Breaking Debutand โBlack Pantherโ Projected To Open To $120M-$150M Over Four DaysNow we just need the review embargo to lift. Does it Lift on January 30th or February 6th I've seen conflicting reports. Or is it like general feelings reviews can be posted on 30th, but in depth reviews have to wait till Feb 6th? I hate the last few weeks before a movie comes out I really want to see.

Reviews are worthless for Marvel/Disney films, especially for diverse films that critics are obligated to champion for.

I don't look at all the reviews when they come out. I have a handful I like that seems to rate movies generally as I do. I read what they say and don't put much stock in other reviewers/critics.

I don't have opinion on Artificial Boosters. Like I said before I just have a handful of critics I like. Everyone could hate a movie and it doesn't take away my enjoyment. And vice versa everyone could love a movie and I hate it. Just seems to me that Artificial Boosters is another technique to denounce someone on the other side in a fanatic war. It's from a long line of tactics of people trying to quantify the subjective: Opening Weekend, Rotten Tomatoes, Critcs in general, if it has legs, audience scores, metacritic, imdb, international opening weekend, World Wide Gross, Domestic Gross, BAFTA, Golden Globes, Oscars, etc etc.

For Star Wars nostalgia plays a factor also so 10% for Nostalgia and 10% for Misc. factors.

Oh I have no doubt this will make a lot of money. Just wondering. I know you pinned a topic for Justice League box office numbers. I was just wondering if maybe with Black Panther and/or Avengers IW would you start it with a pinned prediction page. Then as the numbers come in you could transition it to the box office page. Just a bit of fun. We could look back over the predictions see who will be far off who would be close. Nothing to dramatic. (i know these metrics me nothing just trying to quantify the subjective, but can be fun) The post could start off with these predictions: Rotten Tomatoes Percentage/Critic Rating: Audience Rating: Metacritic: Cinemascore: IMDB: Opening Weekend Domestic: Opening Weekend International: Total Opening Weekend: Total Gross Domestic: Total Gross Worldwide :

I'm not sold on the idea that Panther will make boat loads of money. I think it's going to perform on par with earlier solo MCU films.

I suppose I could make something like that a week before it comes out.

Yeah, I'm excited to see the film, and I think it's going to be good but, unless the film captures the popular zeitgeist in a way no one expected, it will only be another modest hit for Marvel. The idea that Marvel will just keep outpacing themselves with each new release sets them up for failure sooner than they need to be set up for failure. I'm just happy that Panther is closer to Winter Soldier in tone. Last year Marvel released two comedies back to back and a third produced by another studio. It's time to switch it up a little.

That seems about right. If it's really good (not necessarily if it gets good reviews), then I could see this doing better than anyone predicted.

Yeah Black Panther could be huge. Perhaps turn into the next Tony Stark but with more swag, minus the super intelligence?

Someday the bubble's gonna pop. I'm sayin' there's a chance. But BP probably won't be the one to do it. I was completely certain of that five years ago. Almost entirely positive four years ago. Pretty confident three years ago. Ambivalent two years ago. Doubting it last year. Innit? It just seems as though the bubble would've burst by now if it were going to. I feel like there will always be enough butts in seats to justify making more of these (types of) movies. ETA: also, Black Panther is poised to do huge numbers, which I'm not saying you didn't acknowledge as a strong possibility; just weighing in on the main topic at hand, as well.
