teleadm The novel seemed very long and very wordy and just not as "good" as any of the multiple versions of the story.

Mystery of the Wax Museum 1933, I've heard a rumour that Christian Dior might have been involved in the masks, but never found any proof. Lionel Atwill, the face behind THAT mask. Soon his career would go downhill, neighbours complained about loud music, police came, and found something worse, it was a nude party, scandal, after that he could only find jobs at Republic and other minor studios, though Universal did engage him in a few minor roles. Vincent Price in House of Wax 1953 (also showed in 3-D), directed by one-eyed Andre de Toth (who no chance he could have seen the 3-D effects). Vincent Price showing off a head in House of Wax 1953, it's a head made of wax, so there is nothing horrible about this pic.

Casting quirks like that are so much fun. Blimp's such a gorgeous film, one would have to work to find frame grabs that don't look great. I recognize its quality, but The Entertainer's dreary and sometimes sordid tone can make it tough going. Livesey might be among the most under-appreciated actors of British cinema. I've never yet been disappointed by his work.

fwiw Black Like Me (1964)Based on the true story of a white reporter who, at the height of the civil-rights movement, temporarily darkened his skin so that he could experience the realities of a black man's life in the segregated South. bravomailer

The man on the right is a now sadly forgotten black comedian, Godfrey Cambridge, the movie was Watermelon Man 1970 in Swedish it was called Plötsligt en natt blev jag svart roughly translated to English, Suddenly One Night I Became Black, a fantasy about a white bigot suddenly becomes black over night. Played as broad comedy. We only had two tv channels back then, so it was viewad by around 3 million Swedes, Columbia Pictures and Swedish State TV had made a deal. and no commercials breaks. So at breakfast at work, even the old know-it-alls suddenly was interested in the thought, what would happen if I wake up as an opposite of myself.
