Have you ever known the news to be as ridiculous as lately? Do you sometimes wonder where are all the smart people? Are they hiding? Are they going to jump up soon and yell, "surprise?" We thought it would be fun to see what you would do without us.
Are any of these people smart? Franklin Graham, Joel Osteen, Mark Burnett, Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Dolan, Mike Huckabee? What about Schumer, Pelosi or Hoyer? What about Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris or Daniel Dennet? Is Donald Trump smart? Is Paul Ryan smart?
Is there someone else you can mention here who is smart? Are you smart? If you're so smart, what are your plans exactly?
People who do not live in America might not be alarmed as much as Americans, but you're welcome to participate however you like.

When 9/11 happened, I got physically sick, watching the constant news coverage.

Many of the worst things that happen in the world do not get reported in the news.

I dread to ask, but why is one of the options "I'm an agnostic atheist"?

I got sick watching scat. Never again! A friend once showed me "two girls, one cup". I had to excuse myself to be violently sick.

I feel nauseated when getting the daily update on what new destruction the Donald has brought upon us.

Of course.
I lose track of the people I meet with anxiety and depression that spend a lot of their time watching the news.
Obviously, the things we choose to think about and let into our brain will influence our perceptions of the world.
The news is 97% negative stuff, so no wonder people who watch a not of news have pessimistic views of the world. It's not a realistic representation of the world.
50 years ago we could watch one hour of news a day and read one newspaper. Now people can soak up the woes of the world 24 hours a day if they want. IMO the human brain is not designed to take in all the suffering in the world.

I don't watch news anymore. The thing is that they try to play with your emotions and show negative things. I know that is not wrong but news channels and newspaper are often biased and commercialised so much that they often manipulate things.

Trump's victory was a definite shock to the system, but that is already wearing off. In a few months the country will be mostly like it has been since Ronald Reagan was elected, more like when George W. Bush was president. Whichever party is in power thinks everything is fine, whichever party is not thinks everything is miserable, but it's been about the same over 25 years, and won't likely change.
There are nevertheless still those few people who for about 25 years have noticed both parties are failing. Democrats think the government should enable people to do whatever they want. Republicans think the government should prevent people doing whatever they want. They do not agree what the problem is, but they agree the military and or government is the solution. The national debt continues soaring. There was a "Tea Party" movement that tried to break out of that mold. Some might think Trump represents that. He does not. Huckabee, Cruz, Walker and other Republicans do, but don't expect them to advance under Trump's direction.
"And Now for Something Completely Different" by Monty Python won't be enough change either.
"And that's the way it is ..." Walter Cronkite
