JIGSAW has a lot of the same problems that its predecessors had. The most distracting ones this time were: 1) The tape recordings are too detailed. There's no way the killer could've predicted everything. 2) There are moments where it seems like a character is about to make a mistake that will cause their and/or someone else's death... and it happens exactly as we think. The mistakes are usually stupid enough to annoy the viewer, but it's the predictability what angers us. Some of the plot twists had been used before (the killer is someone who survived one of the games (he says that the title character forgave him because what he did wasn't bad enough to die, so why was he put there in the 1st place?!) and became a disciple; the 2 plots aren't happening at the same time). I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a 7th sequel does that. That being said, there's a true suspenseful atmosphere because the makers got rid of the kinetic editing and the monochromatic cinematography. Laura Vandervoort, Paul Braunstein and Mandela Van Peebles' performances are good, but Hannah Emily Anderson's is weak. Unlike the outside characters, the characters who have to play the game are interesting enough. It's a relief when the main characters in a horror movie quickly adapt to the enviroment and realize the rules they have to follow (in this case, literally). 6/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

I haven't even bothered watching it because the main problem I have with the saw franchise is Jigsaw himself - I soon got tired with his dull faux philosophy/observations/motivations.

A big reason I prefer the straight up murderous Hoffman. He doesn’t hide behind some misconstrued sense of morality.

Haven't seen it or the last couple of Saw sequels. I just never got that into the series.

The sequels are just about imaginative traps and gore galore. No real likeable characters or relevant storylines. The sequels are what they are. Or in other words same as pretty much most sequels.

The original was such a pleasant surprise, who would have thought they'd start punching these sequels out in rapid succession like they did. I didn't mind this one, at least there was enough of a gap between movies to make me appreciate it more.

It was pretty good. I like the more psychological aspect here like in the first Saw movie, and the twist was genuinely a surprise. Traps are pretty decent as well.
