Do away with the shootout. Extend OT. After 3 on 3 drop it down to 2 on 2 for 5 minutes. Then 1 on 1 until someone scores.
What about faceoffs in a 1 on 1 scenario? No faceoffs. Place the puck on the centre ice dot and have the skaters behind their own icing line. Blow the whistle and let them go at it. Goalîe makes a save? Puck placed in the faceoff dot. Players stand at the edge of the circle. Blow the whistle and let them go at it again. Penalty called? No powerplay, just a penalty shot. I'd love to see this idea tried out.

Can someone convince me the Bruins aren't going on a Cup run? Don't think I can take another one of those. Um... too early, they will come back to earth (and probably regress below how good they really are) and crash and burn during the playoffs. How's that? Did that work?

I'd rather have the shootout, or no OT, or honestly no hockey then have any of that dreck. Ties don't kill me, I don't see the big deal of why there was all the whining about ties 15-20 years ago. That might be something to replace the All-Star game, but not regular season.

I enjoyed the image of them crashing and burning.

You guys are taking the game too seriously. Once a game goes beyond 60 minutes in the regular season then I don't really care too much what they do to break ties as long as 1-- it's still sort of hockey and 2-- the stats count. The biggest thing that bugs me about shootouts? Most stats don't count. Otherwise just go back to allowing ties or play OT until a winner is decided.

McDavid and Marchand going back and forth - 2 points for each at the end of the first.
Tampa do a good job of torpedoing their playoff hopes with this performance vs Toronto. Positively shocking!

3 points each for Marchand and McDavid at the end of the 2nd. If Marchand wins the scoring title it'll be worse than when Corey Perry won the Hart and Richard.

Sidney Crosby doesn't like being behind Brad Marchand of all people. 2g 1a vs Devils. 37 goals 77 point.

Gotta laugh at the people saying they won't watch the Finals if it's Pittsburgh/Chicago. "Same old teams!" Yeah, uh. The most successful team of this decade going for their 4th in 8 years versus arguably the other best team of the past ten years with the best player in the game in a legacy setting Cup Final pitting perhaps the defining players of this decade against each other?
But yeah, boring. I'd rather see Minnesota versus Ottawa.

Time for some concern with Dubnyk/Wild? They can score, but they're not a particularly good possession team. If they hope to go anywhere, Dubnyk has to be at least very good, if not great. He's been stinky lately.
Not that it matters because the Avs aren't going anywhere obviously, but that Toews goal to make it 2-3 standing up to offside review is awful. This following an iffy call offside call last night that went in the Hawks favor. Not that that really excused the following Avs meltdown. How do you lose by 3 after leading by 2 with 9 minutes left? Good lord.

Man, I didn't realize Min was 2-8 in their last ten! Ok, I'd say that's cause for concern.

The Wild are stone-cold at the worst time. They'll stumble into the playoffs and get bounced in the first round. They were looking so promising all season.
Rooting for the Blue Jackets to make some noise in the playoffs. Second team in the league to clinch. It'd be very unfortunate if they're drawn against Pittsburgh in the first round.

PuckDaddy has some guys like Ryan Lambert that just like to troll certain fanbases (which can be funny), but seems like every day I read something from their or somewhere else crapping on the Jackets like they're some fluke. I mean...they're good. Seems like a lot of people think Pittsburgh or Washington would dispatch them with ease, but I certainly don't feel that way. Dubinsky has a hard-on for Sid and plays him as well as just about anyone. Bob's certainly capable of stealing a series, and while they don't have a "superstar", they're a pretty deep team, even without Murray. Bjorkstrand can snipe! Flames put another nail in the Kings' coffin, along with a scummy elbow from Tkachuk on Doughty. He's had such a good rookie year, but it hasn't been without it's share of dirty plays.
