If an actor/actress doesn't feel safe/comfortable at all doing a stunt, then they shouldn't have to do it. I don't care who you are as a director and/or what kind of film you're making.

JFC that was hard to read.
I have a sinking feeling that Tarantino's latest project is gonna get canceled and that Leo will drop out of it. Just a hunch

Leo seems like the type of guy to distance himself from drama / controversy . But we shall see.

I don't remember the details of the film well enough to know. But Thurman says the studio & Tarantino refused to let her see that specific footage for 15 years, until just recently. (They had offered to let her see it, but only on the condition that she gave up any rights to sue over it.) The irony is that, at least from the specific camera angle shown in that clip, you can't see the driver's face anyway. So it wouldn't have made a difference (to the audience) if a double had done the driving.

I'm not sure which is worse - Weinstein forcing himself on her or Tarantino putting her in serious danger.

I'm not sure which is worse - Weinstein forcing himself on her or Tarantino putting her in serious danger. No question about that: Weinstein, and his enablers, was far, far worse. He knew exactly what he was doing. I'm sure Tarantino thought that what he was asking Thurman to do was safe and reasonable. I can't believe he would actually ask his star to do a stunt that he really thought could seriously injure them. What I do fault QT for is (1) failing as the director to foster an environment in which technical staff could come to him and tell him when they thought a prop or stunt was unsafe (assuming that he wasn't actually told in this case); and (2), the real problem, not supporting an actor who was injured, after the fact. It's like with the Catholic Church and the priest sex abuse, or the USA Gymnastics/US Olympic Committee, or MSU/Penn State. When someone has been injured on your watch, you need to step up and do right by them, not try to suppress it/shoo them away/worry about protecting your own interests.

Tarantino is a sociopath. Very disturbing.

The NYT article also mentions that Tarantino inserted himself into scenes and personally spit on Uma and choked her. I can't see any a-list actress working with him ever again after this degrading behavior has come out. He's one sick pervert.

Seems this was not a once off.
Diane Kruger, who played Bridget von Hammersmark in Inglourious Basterds, told Parade Magazine in 2009 that Tarantino's hands are visible in the close-up shot when her character is strangled to death. "I have to say it was very strange being strangled by the director," she said.
