Some epic marketing by Netflix, releasing the trailer during the Superbowl and at the same time starting the hype on Facebook.
It's being released right after the game.

This has gotta be the first film where I’m going into it completely blind. And that just makes me all the more excited. |

Wow i didnt know they were gonna make another film? Well hopefully it isn't a shaky cam nausea inducing POV like in the first film.

Well, did anybody see it? Yeah, I just watched it. It was...meh. About halfway through I realized that it was nothing special on its own, but I figured it would at least advance the Cloverfield mystery a little bit. It really didn't, though. It leaves everything for speculation and actually brings up far more questions than it answers. |

It was a bit stupid. And someone sure was a fan of the movie Sunshine.
The final scene was some nice fan service, though.
