The fact that this won't be released in theaters in the majority of the world is probably one of the biggest movie tragedies of the last years. Do you know exactly when will it premiere on Netflix? yeah, i'm not from the US I don't know yet. I read an article and I saw some reactions on Twitter that it will be released in the UK on the 12th of March, but that hasn't been confirmed by Netflix as far as I'm aware. And I haven't heard anything about the other countries. I know it probably wasn't finished then, but this would've been the ultimate movie to release after the Super Bowl instead of The Cloverfield Paradox.

Richard Roeper gave it his highest rating (4/4), saying "Annihilation becomes ever more trippy and challenging ā and thus ever more interesting". We also have the first rotten review from a website called 'The Mary Sue'. I looked through some of their other reviews and I guess their taste in movies is very different from mine. For example, they gave Blade Runner 2049, The Hateful Eight, Looper and Gone Girl negative reviews. That's their opinion, but it also means that their reviews usually don't align with my thoughts on a movie. Besides that one review everything is extremely positive so far.

Has anyone already seen it? If so, what did you think of it (no spoilers please)?

The stupid masses never give high ratings to art which requires intelligence and interpretation.

And thatās totally cool that you didnāt like the film, your opinion counts just as much as anybody elseās. Iām just salty about Black Panther getting a perfect cinema score while actual good films like āmother!ā (Which I loved) fail and I equate that to the mainstream/ general audiences these

The plots of both seemed to grant scientific license to throw whatever the filmmakers wanted onto the screen, and the results were mostly laughable for me (be it a reanimated arm or a talking bear). Not to mention, now that I think about it, cribbed from other movies people call garbage. Plant mutations - Troll 2. Time distortion - Blair Witch (2016). The characters were either annoying (Imitation Vasquez), poorly acted (European woman who can't do an American accent to save her life), or forgettable (everyone else) . That and the frame story, which tells you upfront that Portman is the only one that makes it, didn't help the film's ponderous pacing, which actually made me fall asleep at one point. The parts of the plot I didn't know weren't hard to predict. Portman finds a charred corpse? I know who it is and what that means. They hear the voice of a dead teammate? I know where it's coming from. Portman encounters the T-1000? I know what it's going to do it and how to defeat it. I got more self-indulgence than intelligence out of it. It was like I was waiting for the movie to catch up with me instead of the other way around. Yet fans of the film (not necessarily you) and the people behind it would have me believe I'm an idiot who just didn't understand it.

I saw it. Good cast, good acting, some good visuals, good concept, mediocre execution, crap ending. 6/10 I mostly agree with the review above by moviebuffbrad

Has anyone already seen it? If so, what did you think of it (no spoilers please)? it is very very good. To me its not as good as Ex Machina, but its definitely a very interesting and thought provoking movie. Great acting, great visuals and great music. I wish there was at least one male actor in the main group, because this way it was a bit too feminine for me, but thats the only gripe I have with it. I would highly recommend seeing it on the big screen if you can, the movie is clearly meant for a big screen and I am sorry that it doesn't get a theatrical release outside of US and a few select territories. it would deserve it. Clever, intriguing and visually very interesting movie. Go Alex Garland. 8/10 from me. Maybe even 8.5

There was no ending per se. Nothing is resolved and the audience is left hanging. Some people think this makes the movie deep or artsy. I think it's just lazy. Nora

I will admit that mrs bear lady (one who got her jaw ripped off) was annoying, not great at acting, and delivered a few lines of cringy dialogue. You gave legit criticisms so anyone that calls you a āidiotā is prolly a Alex Garland fanboy. I went on reddit the other day and it seems like Garland has a similar following as Chris Nolan (People who will suck the director off no matter what). I LOVE both Garland and Nolan but sometimes fan bases just ruin everything.

NoraIronically, thatās exactly what I loved so much about the ending. Mysterious, unknown and unexplainable with just enough hints to come up with your own theory.
