No you weren’t afraid it would happen, you were hoping it would so you could make a thread about it.

I told you this was going to be the Wonder Woman of Marvel.

We can no longer judge entertainment on its own merit, we always have to include some political or social issue. Black Lightning is a 100%. Black Panther gets 100%. More than half the reviews for both do nothing but talk about race. It is sad, really, how far down this country has gone with race relations.

You think this is bad? Wait till Marvel or DC releases a film staring a LGBT+ character.

What?! You know it was worse, right? Like way way worse. This is more like overcompensating. Guilt in the mind of a person that has nothing to do with something, but making up for something that others have done. They should call this the #PleaseLikeMe movement.

You should see twitter. Just put in #BlackPanther and click on latest. People are A) Comparing this to ‘The Godfather’ and literally want to kill the two critics who gave it rotten scores or B) Making some huge unnecessary racial statement about it.
Just please shut up so we can all enjoy the movie. The political climate ruined ‘Wonder Woman’ for many and ‘Black Panther’ is heading down the same path.

Of course, but worse than the 90s or 2000s? I would argue that it is worse now. Many things back that up too.

You know that time of forced labor and beatings we'll, just for now, call slavery? Don't you think race relations was a bit bad back then?

Virtue signaling is real, ladies and gentlemen. That's not to say the movie is bad. It's probably good. It's made by the same guy who did Creed, which was awesome.
But as far as the reviews go, you'll see these SJW critics try to outdo each other to describe just HOW good it is, just so everyone knows how much they care about having movies "designed for people who aren't white men."

Jesus you are a dense one aren't you? So you are saying that this is the worst time in race relations though? For this country that is. I seriously never said anything even remotely close to that effect. I am not sure what you are talking about. All I stated was that they are worse now than they were 20 years ago, which is true.

And even if you want to go 90s... Dude, the only difference now is that we can get information faster. People being able to actually have real time audience scores is huge.

I wish this movie was not made by Marvel and Disney as we all know its all about hype and no substance. I fear the backlash will be huge, its Ghostbuster all over again with an imdb score of 6.7.
what people need to learn is two wrongs don't make a right. critics are giving it SJW reviews and that is wrong. casual people will retaliate by giving it the bad reviews they think it deserves. that is wrong and both parties loose real credibility.
for what is worth, its ironic this movie is coming out now and the critics are praising the Majesty of africa that is wakanda after trump's idiotic comments that africa is a shit hole. see how the timing is just perfect.

The first thing everyone should do is stop reading critic reviews. Virtually all of them are either agenda driven (both political or personal) or they are totally incompetent or BOTH!
I stopped reading and listening/watching critics a LONG time ago and I have not regretted it once.
The second thing we should do is ignore all the wanna-be critics on the internet who are just as bad as the actual paid critics.

I stopped reading and listening/watching critics a LONG time ago and I have not regretted it once. The second thing we should do is ignore all the wanna-be critics on the internet who are just as bad as the actual paid critics. And this is where people's agendas are revealed. The only reason to be hyper-interested in reviews at this point is if you are invested in how well the film performs financially. If lots of great sounding SJW reviews are bothering you right now, it's likely because you think the movie will get an unfair financial lift at the box office as a result. If you're looking at reviews to determine if you should see the film or not, that could wait another couple of weeks until the film is in wide release and all the reviews are available. This "Black Panther is a political film" nonsense is more cover for the anti-Disney/ pro-DCEU fan wars. It so thinly veiled it's a joke. If you think the SJW movement is propping up the film and it's a bad movie, all you have to do is wait to be proven right and step onto your throne on opening night. If you're hemming and hawing about it now, it's probably because you want this film to be bad - sight unseen. Marvel is piggybacking their marketing on the social (and not political) aspects of this film in order to turn a buck just like the DCEU did for Wonder Woman. It's capitalism people, wake up and smell the money.
