He was a short, bald, mousey little character actor with an unusually high-pitched voice. Yet, I really have to give him credit, not just for going into the acting industry, but also willingly accepting self-effacing roles. My favorite one is "Eddie, the Love Machine" on THE GOLDEN GIRLS. He passed away in 2004, and IMHO, he is irreplaceable.
Your thoughts?

He did drama as well as comedy. I remember an episode on ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS (can't remember the title) where he was the chief suspect in the murder of a woman who had accepted a ride from him.
It turned out that someone else was the killer, but the final scene led viewers to believe that he was capable of murder.

He also portrayed the formidable 'Lawyer Daggett' who managed to stare down Duke Wayne in TRUE GRIT.

IIRC the final scene with Fiedler and the girl hitchhiker in his car clearly implies he is the serial killer who was being searched for .

But for the case being investigated, Feidler was innocent. That doesn't mean that he had killed others and would kill again.

Mr. Emil Peterson of The Bob Newhart Show And the character was an ex-Marine on that show.
In one episode he told a loudmouth in Dr. Bob's therapy group to -- "blow it out your barracks bag!" to prove it.

He also plays against type in an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series from the second season story "Wolf In The Fold" written by Robert Bloch (Psycho). Fiedler's character is possessed by the same evil entity that drove Jack the Ripper in ancient Earth history.

He was in Kolchak the Night Stalker as "Gordie the ghoul" I think.
"It's even happened to me a few times! It tastes awful!"
Confession: I have a voice similar to his.

Yep, he was definitely Gordie "the ghoul" Spangler on Kolchak. He was great in that role. "If I'm not watching Let's Make A Deal by the end of the week, they'll be no more deals made here."

His voice was so squeaky and tiny. The perfect choice to play Piglet. When I saw him in A Raisin in The Sun and 12 Angry Men, the first thing I asked myself was why he wasn't hanging out with Pooh. Lol!

IMHO, John Fiedler was a later generation's version of Donald Meek.
