People are getting hyped for Martin Scorsese's upcoming mob movie The Irishman, not least because it will star the likes of Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, Stephen Graham, Bobby Cannavale, Jesse Plemons and Ray Romano all in the same film. Seeing all of them face off against each other is a mouth-watering prospect. But I can't help but feel people are going to be disappointed because a lot of the big name cast members aren't going to be on screen at the same time and some roles are a lot smaller than you'd think, going off the true life events and the book the film is based on 'I Heard You Paint Houses'. Plus, given the film covers several decades a lot of the actors appear in different time periods and won't interact with each other. For example, Cannavale in a big-budget Scorsese gangster movie has turned heads, but the character he's playing was only in the book for one short scene (that could have been omitted and it would have barely made a difference to the plot). And he is not likely to share screen time with any of the big names bar Robert De Niro...and even then for about 10 seconds. I made the below video giving a breakdown of each main actor's role and how much screen time they will share with each other, if you're interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHlPVi8jOUwThere are no spoilers in this video.
