I love me a good lost-in-the-woods horror movie, the creepier the better, and The Ritual is very creeptastic, indeed! Lots of mystery about what exactly is out there in the woods creates some great tension and maintains it till the end . The acting is excellent and the story never quite follows the usual patterns for this type of film, keeping you on edge throughout. Check it out, it's widely available on Netflix in Canada and the USA.

Actually, the movie was filmed in Romania...to make it spookier, maybe?

I'm looking forward to it. It recently came onto my radar on Netflix and the trailer is promising, as are many of the reviews.

Watched it other night and quite a pleasant surprise. Some eerie moments, atmospheric locations, fine performances, unique monster and a story framed by an interesting old-world folklore that gave a refreshing slant to the standard lost-in-the-woods creature-feature premise.

I just posted in the other Ritual thread, but +1 on the comment about the unique monster and its thematic relevance to the location. For a "lost in the woods, monster is chasing" cheap horror flick it did some surprisingly inventive things.

Just watched it...very cool concept. It feels like a good version of the Blair Witch for a while, and then the cultists and monster get elaborated on a bit. It was definitely a fresh take on some of this stuff and has some really interesting designs for that thing. I dig it.

Just caught this on Netflix, and I agree it's quite good. Supremely creepy atmosphere, tense, and some unexpected surprises along the way. And that was one freaky looking monster!
