It is, episode 8 of The Return... with insect frogs crawling in teenage girl's mouths and shit. nice! i thought you were referencing that HBO show (name escapes me). Um... no idea, but now I'm curious. I might change my avatar to Kevin Garvey, but not sure any of you would recognize me with a different avatar, I was gone for so long.

The US Women's soccer team complaint was ridiculous. They made it after a WC year when Women's teams revenue was inflated and compared it to the men's revenue for that year. If you went across the 4 year period, including both men and women's WCs the revenue was much more for the men. The most damning stat was that the women were paid a higher share of their sport's revenue than men. If they were actially paid the same rate as male players, they'd be making a lot less.
In an established league like the WNBA the players should be getting a proportionate revenue share to the men. If that's not happening, then it needs to start happening.
The AFL in Australia started a women's comp last year. No major sponsor, free admission to games, broadcasters got the rights for free, played over 9 weeks in the men's off season. Feminists with no idea about such things were wondering why the women weren't paid 200,000 a year like an entry level male player. The answer? AFL invested $2 million into player salaries across 8 clubs knowing they'd never see any of it back and weren't willing to sink any more.

Lewes FC pay their mens and women's teams equally, as do Norway. In the case of the Norwegian national football teams, it kind of makes sense. First of all, the women are more successful than the men. They always do well in the tournaments, whereas the men rarely ever qualify - so presumably the women generate more revenue to the Norwegian FA. Secondly, I imagine that the men play professionally for clubs in Norway and elsewhere in Europe, where they probably earn reasonable salaries, while the women certainly get paid less by their clubs (if they play club football at all).

Gin! sweet. do you like anything with your gin other than tonic or a classic martini? try to dig up recipes at times but i get shot down when offering to some who ask 'what can you mix with gin'? gin rickey - freshed squeezed lime juice, 1 1/2 gin, club soda, lime a garnish gin buck - freshed squeezed lemon juice, 1 1/2 gin, ginger ale, lemon as a garnish fog horn - freshed squeezed lime juice, 1 1/2 gin, ginger ale, lime as a garnish or do you just like your 'Gin' straight gin rickey (more gin in this recipe):

Well of course they do! Certainly no one would expect equal pay if the conditions of work weren't equal. Haven't you heard about the long string of sell-outs across the nation and the yuge television contracts the WNBA signed? Kind of a red herring all the way around (and ESPN just doubled the amount it pays for WNBA broadcasts, for whatever that's worth). They're not asking for equal salaries. They're asking for pay that is consistent with that of their male counterparts. Of course the WNBA revenues are lower across the board, literally nobody is suggesting otherwise and, in turn, nobody is saying that the best player in the WNBA should make the same salary as that of Lebron, or whoever is the top paid guy in the NBA right now. However, the NBA pays its players about 50% of its revenues, whereas the WNBA pays its players about 25% of its revenues. Therein lies the issue. I'd have to look at the details, but likely the operational costs of the WNBA require a bigger chunk of the pie than the operational costs of the NBA. The idea is this: Imagine that we have two businesses. Business A pulls in $100k/month. Business B pulls in $10 million/month. Well, if it costs $80k/month to run business A, and $5 million/month to run business B, business B can afford to pay its employees a much bigger salary, even if there are a lot more employees, because they have 50% of the net to play with instead of just 20%.

I will put it like this. My cousin is in the top 10 ESPN prospects coming out of High School. You will see her on TV as she has a full ride to UCONN. She destroys every girl she plays in basketball. She is 6'3" and can shoot lights out. I can DESTROY her when we play one on one. I am decent, but never good enough to play division 1 BBall, better yet the NBA. This is not a brag post, simply the truth. If my cousin were a man with her same accolades, he would beat me pretty handedly most likely. Fair enough and I'll take you at your word. I haven't played basketball in years so I have no real basis to doubt what you said. But I'm really good at tennis, at least for someone who never played in college or anything like that. My serve is my real one weakness, but I can get just to about anything, have a tremendous forehand, and can place my backhand anywhere with great spin in both directions. I play against my wife's friend who played at a D-1 school and she runs my ass all over the court and I'm fortunate to win a single game against her. Two totally different sports and totally different skill set. Tennis is another sport where sex does not matter, IMO. I would argue that women have been better in history.

No. She is from further out. It is Doylestown High School.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. The amount of money the NBA spends in branding (and defending its IP rights) alone is considerably higher than that of the WNBA and that's just one aspect. Traveling costs, insurance, personnel costs, legal expenses, etc. The WNBA has smaller rosters and a shorter season (right?) so right there you're looking at substantially smaller operational costs. I hear what you're saying and it's a fair point, one worth looking at, but the NBA's operational costs are stratospheric compared to that of the WNBA (as are its revenues, to be fair).

This is precisely why the ladies don't get the same slice of pie. Stats lie all the damn time.

this could possibly go down as one of the most epic posts in the short history of IMDB2.... wasn't it long ago the U.S. women's soccer team was in arms - because they weren't receiving the same pay as the men? race? religion? democrat or republican? sexual preference? Alien vs. Predator or Freddy vs. Jason? i'll pass on those - the equal pay disputes of Men Vs. Women have always been a blast to me let the games begin!!!! This argument against the WNBA players seems to be a bad argument, but arguing against the women's national soccer team is really terrible argument. They weren't even exactly asking for equal pay, and they have been far more successful than the Men's team and brought in more revenue when they brought that complaint.
