For all the shit Snyder gets for BvS and some of his other projects, I really have to tip my cap to him on bringing Watchmen to life. And dare I say it shits all over MOST of those MCU films ? Really thought Snyder did an excellent job bringing the epic graphic novel to life . (its bold, daring, violent and thought provoking) 8.5/10
Thoughts on Watchmen?

Didnt like it. It did a good job of capturing panels in the comic and the casting was mostly spot on, but it was so slow-and the fact that it did follow the comic so closely was its handicap. I expect a movie to be less confined. Dr Manhattan in Vietnam for example--they could have showed more of it--not just the single shot of him in the field as in the comic.

I enjoyed it, great atmosphere and cinematography make it a captivating watch at times. However it was a bit too slow in places. 7/10

Thats why its so hard to make a project like this. If its too close to the comics, people will get mad. If its too different, people will get mad. It's basically impossible to win and just expect people to enjoy it for what it is, a movie.

I love elements of it, but as a whole I don't think it's a great film. Interested to see what the TV series will be like.

I watched the Ultimate Cut last week, and overall, it was pretty decent, thoughtful superhero film although it was a chore to watch because of its running time. The movie did a good job capturing the stylized look of the original graphic novel and the actors were well-cast in their roles. 7/10

Watchmen is a very good comic book film that has much more meaning in it than most other films in the genre. The first half is actually quite brilliant and it probably has the greatest opening credits sequence in movie history.
Zack Snyder is very hit or miss for me but he did an excellent job here.
8/10

I'm not a Watchmen fan, never read the comic book. But I really liked the film, but the theatrical cut only. For some insane reason the only available blu ray option is the 3 hour director's cut.

The first time I saw it was on commercial tv and I loved it. I bought the theatrical DVD and it wasn't as good. This is the only time I've preferred a tv cut of any movie.

It was much better than I ever expected to be...one reason why I was excited at the prospect of him directing the DCEU films. Sadly he seemed to have lost hi s mojo after Watchmen

Loved it.
The TV show has a tough act to follow.
Always loved his Dawn Of The Dead.

Its an unusual film, quite violent, had never heard of The Watchmen before---I actually saw the second half first, on TV, and then the first half later--I think that was an advantage because when I saw the Vile Comedian getting beaten to death in the beginning, it was quite satisfying--Billy Crudup was great as Dr Manhattan, and Jackie Earle Halliday was amazing as Rorschact--some good use of music, and good visual effects--7/10

I really like it too. I wish people would just shut up about Snyder being an awful director because what he did to the DCEU and just look back at his earlier works, like this one. I also really like the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake he directed, which is also his first movie.

I remember really liking The Ultimate Cut. Haven't' seen it in about 5 years, though.

Yeah I own the Blu-ray which is the director's cut. That was pretty much my first and so far only experience with the movie.

As with his DCEU work, Snyder has a knack for capturing visuals from the comics (in this case, slaveishly so), whilst missing the point of them and not understanding their characters. Him, his style, and the way he tries to make everything "cool" is completely at odds with Moore's story. As are his silly and pretentious musical choices.

I've seen only bits and pieces on television. Haven't read the comic.
