taylorfirst1 According to Deadline, Suicide Squad wasn't far off from being as profitable as Civil War. Civil War made a profit of $193 million and Suicide Squad made a profit of $158 million. And Civil War did have China too.

Spider-man Homecoming did $1m for Thursday Night Previews. BP still tracking to be stronger opener than Spidey. Also BP advance ticket sales have now topped those for Spider-Man: Homecoming by 30% I swear to god if they used Movie Math/statistics in college in the Business and Economics classes I would've paid attention more.

$940,379,601 and counting. Back in the day I was just happy to see superhero on the screen I never would've dreamed about this kind of success. I had Matt Saligner's Captain America on reserve when it came in at my local Mom and Pop vhs rental. In college I bought a burned bootleg of Roger Corman's Fantastic Four at a swap meet. I waited in line at the small Theater in Boone to see Batman and Robin. To go from that and get X2, MCU, Nolan Trilogy, etc feels strange.

I was a little kid when the first X-Men movie was released in theaters and I remember being amazed by it and how it probably won't get any bigger than that. That was back in 2000. Fast forward to 2018 and CBM have only gotten bigger. I envy the kids growing up now, they get to have a whole lot more of characters to grow up with on the big screen than I did.

I had just graduated from college when It came out. The x-men production is what got me going to sites like aintitcoolnews, Coming Soon.net, then it's offspring Superherohype . I would bore the shit out of my brother and friends for about a year before it came out with little tidbits . (when my group saw Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back they all turned to me when Holden tells Jay about the internet where people trade what they think insider information) So since around 1999 I have been fascinated by movie production and box office.

$22.7 million opening day in China which should translate to an opening weekend of $60-$70 million. The race issues doesn't appear to have been had a negative impact on the BO.

He's been awfully quite. I think his series of goofs on Black Panther finally got to him. First it was going to be too heavy handed with race so it wasn't going to do well here in North America. It did well. Then because of charity white guilt was the reason it opened well it would fall off after first week so no repeat viewing. It had repeat viewing. It won't do well overseas. So there was no chance of Black Panther to beat WW overseas. It has. There was no question that it wasn't going to beat WW domestic. It did. There's no chance for it to reach a Billion because it will BOMB in China. It won't need China to make a billion, but even more humiliating it's going to make 60+ million opening weekend in China and probably will be 110+ total there.

Well done, hopefully its a boost for the other CBMs unreleased this year. Maybe X-men. I don't think so when it comes to Aquaman. It might be too soon for the story they are using.

But the worry is the non-MCU movies in Aquaman, Xmen Dark Phoenix and Venom are all released in the last 3 months of the year. With Infinity War and Antman 2 released before July, its a concern that by the time October rolls around, audiences may feel comic book movie fatigue.
