Why is it (or how is it) that we often come to believe an actor or actress died years ago, when they're still alive? I just experienced this yet again with the Hal Holbrook thread on Classic Films board.

Could just be that people fall off the radar or the media misreports something..but there is a theory--leaky universe--the idea is that reality is porous and parallel dimensions will seep into each other--so we may hear someone died...and then later on hear it again. Since we are never in all places at once we cannot be sure that we did shift into another dimension for a spell, and the changes are minute anyway.
I've definitely had occasions where I heard someone died and then a few years later heard they died and had strong deja vu about it.

In some cases, I think I saw their character die in a movie and that somehow got translated into they had died in real life.
